-- I know I know A closet , but My friend I have been traveling with He is into plants a lot
I think buying some citrus or something He could put in his living room could be good
Could be by the windows, but I am looking for idea's when at night what could block the grow lights .

Could it be like a book shelf with a blanket over it ..

I am hoping some could show inspiration, and maybe I could ask, to see what he says
I feel bad but I think I need time in my life to myself
so I would like to do something he normally would not do on his own,
and have it look nice (I know he doesn't mind anyways hahaha

Oh Not a Studio Apartment anyways he has a Closet
just do not think it suits  his needs.

I think A tree in the day for decoration will be nice, at night can switch on the grow lights , and cover

-- Like I said maybe a curtain, and a book shelf in Living room

Anyone do something like this, or have any picctures (has a small area in summer between 2 windows like a foot of space.

Or Budget black plastic from Home Depot:

if you do this make sure you aren't breaking ANY laws, because they might think you are growing weed and then look for something else to stick you with if they find none. :)

This seems as good a place any other to ask: do you all have any recommendations for a cheap light set? I can never seem to wrap my head around it lol.

the "blurple" chinese LED light fixtures on amazon seem to be a very good bang for the buck, but they are painful to look at.  Others here recommended 'COB' lights which seem nice

I use 240w "quantum boards" lights I buy from Meiju lighting company on Alibaba. About $160 delivered. They work great and are natural white color not blurple.

Usually through the winter I run them 18 hours a day in the corner of my house and I put a mylar sheet up on the window and the walls to not bother my neighbors. It works great. Yes, light will pour out of your house unless you use a tent. A tent isn't necessary in my opinion.

Thank you I ddin't know they could be that cheap

For a mango i could see

looks bulky I do think some type of book shelf with a curtain for this situation
Also do not think a book shelf could be wide enough for mango, but citrus I could see pruned .

Anyone think you could espalier mango (see pic) indoors to grow more wide in a pot against the wall in book case.
even though I forgot this myself while writing  the above
(also keep in mind the space out side in between windows is a foot wide anyways
(b/c I know I do not think neighbors them would mind it being on the back door fire escape looking deal they got, but may get stolen )
Plus not the most light in the alley

all in all citrus might just be a starting point (In book case with curtain)
Thank you for the grow tent I might consider it -- it may look bulky in dining room (but maybe for closet or who knows he may like it)

hahaha Brian not certain he has nothing to hide, but thank you for looking out
By the way Cannabis is legal in Illinois recreational so anyone can buy it
if you have a medical card you can grow up to 5 plants Now say your paralyzed
do you have to spit the seeds yourself, and prune with the mouth better safe than sorry.

pandan I know a lot of options for lights I am busy now,
but I will try to get the post tomorrow, and link it here they talked about.

Anyone train mango like this

Looks like a lot of choices
On one hand for me it does not matter
if I bought high Sodium lights (hahah not sulfer like reffered to other day) I could use for something else
think for him HED lights will be good (chicago may think He is growing weed with Electric bill)

If it's in a living room, no one will want to look at those hideous grow tents. Plus, they will have light leak pinholes in no time. For a few dollars more, you can get the cheap Ikea armoire closet. Or a home depot garage closet.

You will need to add wood trim pieces around the perimeter of the doors with weatherstripping attached to conceal the emitted light from the LED'S.

If he is growing citrus, cobbs are great but do emit more heat than LED boards. Just get a couple good samsung boards with a quality driver. That way, you can have one light on top and move the other for side lighting and penetration.

Venting is easy with LED's. Have a passive 4" 90° pvc elbow on the bottom that has a filter on it and have another 90° elbow on top with a tiny exhaust fan. You can get small 4" fans that have built in controls for humidity and temp. The use of elbows is to trap the light from escaping.

No electric company would notice a tiny spike from this nor would they care. They are a business and want to make money.

Thank you Every one , and John B

I think I'd do that plenty of people Move in Chicago in fancy condo's
and throw out very nice Armoire with real wood (no need for Particle board stuff)
and free and nicer looking

I doubt  he would want hot lights though John B
does not even like the gas stove hooked up .

I felt bad because He loves this sort of thing but I never set anything up for Him , but would like to introduce him to it
I gave him lots of plants but more like fruit trees growing like house plants as they do not get a lot of light just window light.

K rims, and Brian thank you

In this case I do not think the purple lights are good but I like them
I have seem the purple lights , and in this case I think if he wanted to open the (book shelf or what ever contraption I can think of)
It would ruin the experience

I will have to research this , but really do not know how
as I try not to read about stuff until I want to use it as I learned a lot of stuff I never used , and forgot.

I see COB is LED , and also those Meiju sound nice (a led too)

I gathered bits, and pieces here and there on this forum

Any links to see what to look for in lights ?
So I know what I am getting when I buy as opposed to falling for marketing bias when buying direct.

I think A cool plan would to be build a terrarium inside a book shelf or armoire
a sealed terrarium could make it's own humidity , and the wooden doors to cover the lights but also for aesthetics

I do have (church plexie glass ) but I think plastic wrap flexible sheets , (like Johnm3315 showed)
and tent sealing tent glue might work (or gorilla glue it expands) (or glue stick to seal plastic)

I will let you know what I come up with

Oh forgot thinking the plexie glass for doors since hard behind wooden doors for support
it was found free in a Churches  trash anyways so no cost --
but could use old glass from patio windows (free as well from window company)
to seal terrarium if I decide to go with terrarium
