Physalis ID and Info

While not strictly a tropical fruit... they are a annual fruit of tropical origin.
These Physalis plants pop up everywhere in my veggie garden... and pretty much anywhere the ground gets turned over.
Wanted to know if anyone had any info about them.

I believe it is actually Physalis angulata.
Just curious if anyone had any firsthand experience with it.
