Tropical Fruit Buy, Sell & Trade / Re: New brazilian seller seeds
« on: December 08, 2021, 10:47:49 AM »
I assume you provide the following service:

+ we send you a seed request
+ you find it
+ if found, you set its price (plus shipping fee) and send to us with phyto

Is that correct?

Thanks Frank, in the 2nd pic, leaves sure look like a hybrid of A. squamosa and A. reticulata but more of the A. reticulata while the fruit is almost of A. squamosa, very interesting!

I believe this is a hybrid of SA & CA. The fruit skin looks much bolder than any sugar apples. Frank do you have some pics of its leaves?

He usually preserves me seeds before I send the payment. In some cases he sent seeds before I did my part. 100% top tier reliability. He's the best among my go-to sellers, also a good friend.

32
Does this variety have the flesh sticking to the seed?

33
Its not patrisii
Curious how you know this.  Did you get some and it just arrived?

Yes Stevo knows, because he is one of the rare fruit grandmasters.

Looked at the fruits next to the coke, I think they are around 7-10cm in diameter which makes me wonder if they are somewhat related to Han Sen's Pacific Lychee as in the pics below:

Sounds like a big winner of that Tenom mangosteen. Wonder why it is not widely known knowing that the quality is superior.

37
Makes sense, thanks Mike.

Sorry didnt mean to hijack the the thread. I made a serious error Garcinia magnifolia not macrophylla and I keep calling magnifolia by the wrong name so sorry for any confusion. Achacha just cant mix it with the big guns its true but I have heard people rave about them. G. macrophylla seems to get around 20 feet before fruiting and I am talking about the good Ecuadorian form not the trashy brazilian pretender. Alan Carle's tree is big. Someone handy at throwing a cricket ball can bring them down and probably someone handy at pitching a baseball also.

So Garcinia magnifolia is number 3 along with Luc, right Mike?

Haven't ordered yet but wish you and your friend a super quick recovery Raul!

The raining season in my area comes 2 months earlier. That's not a good sign I think.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: sweet Maprang
« on: April 19, 2021, 08:56:47 AM »
The world epicentre of maprang action is Thailand, Forgot those sour green pretenders from indonesia and malaysia where they originated. The Thai trinomial naming system means Maprang is the first name. The second relates to which class it falls in priep which is sour, mayon chid which is sour to sweet when ripe and wan which is sweet. There are many selections in each of these classes. The third name usually relates to where it came from o Maprang wan Bangkok could be a theoretical name. Some mayon chid are nicely sweet when ripe and are well favoured and wan varies from bland to very pleasantly sweet. They also vary greatly in shape and fruit size.

Good read thanks Mike

I notice that there are two types:

+ round shape: sour or very sour
+ elongated shape: usually sweet and bigger fruit

Looks like you met the sweet type.

You're welcome Mike! If its seed is also edible then this can be a winner I think.

44
Mike could it be the same as this terminalia of DANNYINOZ?

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Update on Russells Sweet Garcinia
« on: April 10, 2021, 06:34:55 AM »
The biggest and oldest Russell Sweet tree around is a female about 40 years old. I had a look at the 100s of fruit on this tree today about 3 hrs ago and the biggest were almost 1lb. Here a few to look at.

Mike the fruits are big. I think they were pollinated by a male tree somewhere around.

Firm-flesh and few-seed rollinia sounds like a big winner to me.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Garcinia macrophylla looking fruit
« on: February 14, 2021, 12:40:28 PM »
I now own that property the tree was grown on. today I found at least 15 different medium to large sized garcinia trees(not including purple mangosteen), with thousands of seedlings underneath them. only one tree I was able to identify as achachairu since it had 2 fruits. I need to clear around the trees since they are all shaded from weed trees and that should help them start flowering and fruiting again and I can identify them.

Nice! Keep us posted pls.
