I have Taste San Pablo before they are good, the ones I had  where a little grit on them ,also I believe  it is self fertile, but they don't come close to my A..Ret which is also self fertile, and extremely Creamy and 99.9% grit free , I will have grafted Plants for sale soon here on this site. Here they are notice how they all have Flowers!

I’d be interested in one.

Plant it and let those roots develop.

Especially when you consider that only a few ounces of that is actually edible.  A little more if you eat the seeds.

My jaboticaba has been surprisingly cold hardy, with only minor leaf burn at around 23 F.

The University of Florida has bred some quite good low-chill peaches, plums, & nectarines. Grapes, both muscadine & bunch should do well too.

Blueberries, blackberries & raspberries also.

I’ll second the UF peaches. They are excellent. I have UF Best and they are great trees and EXCELLENT fruit.

Miamifruit.org

They have a fruit stand at a farmers market every Saturday. It may be listed on their website or just email them.

You can sometimes find it frozen at the grocery

You can often find smaller packages frozen at Asian groceries.

I want to love it, but I can’t get past the funk.

Imidacloprid would probably work best for long term control.

58
Obviously good rootstock. Cut it back and graft some good varieties onto it.

59
They might have been irradiated.

I guess we could start bagging the fruit. We bag guavas and have high success against fruit fly.

You might try scouting fruit at an earlier stage looking for Annona Seed borer, some o your pics show the small black spots. We often see mummified sugar apples and this could be related. Much of the damage seems to be in concave areas which are also favorites of mealybugs. Here is a UFL pest sheet for annona.

I just got 2 boxes of bags delivered.  I'm going to start bagging almost everything.  Peaches, Anonas, even tomatoes.

Thank you.  Will do, I plan on heading out that way during mango season.

It looks a lot like an "unknown" avocado that I have.

Did you want a yellow passionfruit vine when I head that way?

I've never heard you have to rinse off the insecticidal soap.  As long as it is applied in the evening anyway.

Anyone knows where I can get a Dream atemoya tree? Would love to plant one.

I got mine at Fruitscapes in  Bokeelia. That’d be quite a drive for you though.

Are and grafted trees available?

Arabica coffee can easily be kept as a shrub. Blueberries are another possibility.

68
I found seeds that sprouted in mangosteens from supermarket fridge shelf. They have bigger and smaller seeds and the bigger ones were allready germinated.I didnt grow them thogh.

I assume that was in Romania?  US law states they have to be irradiated before importing.  And since they won’t fruit in the US, all are imported. As stated above, there are some garcinia fruits that will grow and taste similar.

69
In its stead I’m currently growing Luc’s Garcinia and achacha. Both are slower growing. I’ll let you know in about 5years.

70
Likely irradiated and will not grow.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Lisa and dream both self pollinating?
« on: May 03, 2019, 07:05:11 AM »
I have a Lisa Atemoya and a dream Cherimoya, are both self pollinating?  I’ll probably hand pollinate anyway, just curious.

72
I never liked mulberries until I tried a Tice. By far the best I ever tasted, but there are many I haven’t tried.

73
I believe there are bananas that will grow outdoors in zone 8 if you cut them back and cover them in winter. I’m pretty sure I’ve read about people doing this.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: My sapodillas!

Gorgeous trees!

Ever since my brother (who lives in Florida) wrote this post about his desire for sapodillas, I've been thinking of getting him a tree for his yard. He currently has a huge mango tree, but can't stand mangoes! (If you can believe that.)

Are sapodillas pretty easy to get started with? Or will it take a decade to have trees like yours?

Different varieties grow at different rates.

My Silus Woods was very small, and started out slowly.  It's been in the ground just about a year and is blooming this year, assuming it holds the fruit.  I'll take pics tomorrow.  It seems to be starting a nice growth spurt the past several months.

My Morena has only been in the ground about 6 months and seems to be off to a good start.

Bummer, what I thought were small fruit are actually blooms that are just now opening.  The buds look quite a bit like small fruit before they open.
