CCPP order on C-35 rootstock?
« on: May 24, 2020, 04:34:37 PM »
Hi Guys,
I'm new to grafting.  Just wondering about compatibility of C-35 and my CCPP order:

-Giant Key Lime
-Miyagawa Satsuma
-Red Australian Finger Lime
-Bouquetier de Nice Double Sour Orange

Also, any other feedback about these varieties would be appreciated.

I am pretty sure that all types of citrus are compatible. I have tried the miyagawa satsuma and it is my favorite variety now.

Is your trees in the ground or in containers?  If in the ground C35 is well adapted  to loam, sandy loam and sandy soil. Performs poorly in very heavy soils with poor drainage. C35 has good compatibility with all oranges, all grapefruit and Lisbon lemon, but is incompatible with Eureka lemon.  Mandarins on C35 preform well for at leas 10 to 15 years, but many eventually develop bud union crease and decline.

Best I have found for here in Charleston is Swingle.

I grow my own. I have multiple trees just for that purpose. Clay soil is the norm here unless you're right on the beach. Swingle does much better in clay.

Is Swingle short for Swingle Citrumelo.
