Tropical Fruit Buy, Sell & Trade / Re: Whole sale nursery

Try Simpsons, isons, agristarts, or liner source. Some may be far away but they also might deliver.

I had Sinton, but lost it due to a Phythophtora infestation. It is very rare in Europe and I only know of one nursery that sells it.
Maybe it's different in the USA.

Madison carries it in the US.

You plan on growing this…where in the UK?

I went with Atwood because it is an early variety and holds well. My only other navel is Lane Late and I wanted to compare the two. I had originally planned on giving blood oranges another try, but then I noticed a healed Smiths Red bud graft from last year pushing growth.

- Mas I highly encourage grafting when you can get into it. Really opens doors to get more varieties and save some coin.

Citrus General Discussion / Re: New Zealand lemonade vs Meyer lemon

I would recommend eureka or lisbon lemons over meyer.  I would most likely not have a meyer lemon tree if I was able to grow standard lemon varieties in my climate.  Meyer lemons to me have an off taste.  Meyer is a highly productive tree if you like the fruit but I prefer other lemon varieties over meyer.

I agree. Meyer lemons are low quality and not worth growing. I would recommend Lisbon or Harvey

Citrus General Discussion / Re: Yuzu Fingerlime cross

Not to be rude at all but what’s the point of this cross? I use Yuzu strictly for the rind (and I have more superior options but that’s all I find it useful for). I would think zesting a yuzu finger lime would be pointless and the taste would be much lower in quality with ten million seeds inside

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Old Mamey tree dying.
« Last post by kizerpablo on Today at 12:04:13 PM »
Hi...1st time poster! Have an old Mamey tree a minimum of 25yrs old?. Live in Puerto Rico. It's been a dry winter for here. Half the tree is looking very bad. Leaves have turned brown and look terrible! Thinking of getting the chainsaw out and getting rid of the bad looking limbs. In hopes to give energy to the half still thriving? We have had termites but have gotten rid of all visible nests, but still battle them. Hasn't been fruiting the greatest last 2 yrs. Wondering if anyone could advise if this sounds like a sound plan or has any other advice? Thanks
