Hello everyone, here is a list of currently available seeds from the Guiana's forest.
All seeds are fresh, shipped just after cleaned from the fruit. Unviable seeds are discarded.
Please note that almost all seeds for sale are recalcitrant and are sent with moist medium to avoid any dessication. For this reason, it is not possible to send seeds with a seed import permit except if seed permit allow coco fiber or vermiculitis with the seeds.
All packets are sent by tracked priority airmail (no express mail) in flat bubble envelope. I can add CN22 customs declaration if needed.
Payments are done by paypal as friend.
Ship worlwide.
Please send order request to : colombo403@yahoo.fr

Hello everybody,

Few days ago, i've found a very pretty Annona shrub in the savanah.
The tree is 2 meters tall, multi stemmed.

2 rippen fruits were hanging on the branchs. Fruits are 6 cm in length. green turning yellow when mature.
Fruit appearance is very close to a tiny Biriba fruits. It was impossible to wait anymore for tasting it !

Texture is creamy, pulp is white and a bit translucid like Biriba.
Taste is delicious, like a mix of a sweet Biriba and Sugar apple.
One downside : several small seeds ;D
I'm still trying to identify the species, it could be Annona densicoma.
Here, natives calls it Pakayakni and it is considered as a delicacy.
Despite my searchs, i've not found any other plant around.
I've saved a bunch of seeds for growing this exciting species. It sounds suitable for container growing.
Anyone have an idea for its botanical name ?

Hello everybody,

After some time away due to moving, here is my updated list of available species.
I would like to inform that i've moved to a place closest to the forest and its marvelous fruits :)
There are a few downsides : i depend on solar energy so i may be offline for some days, especially during the rainy season :-\

Here is a important notice for buyers :
Rare tropical fruits enthousiasts know well that buying such seeds (recalcitrant for most) is not like buying an ordinary object of consumption online. Tropical seeds needs special cares and process prior to be shipped.
So after an order is placed, please do not expect to have in 1 or 2 days the seeds shipped out with tracking number.
Usually, shipping delay varies from 4 to 20 days.
I'm not growing all the seeds i'm offering for sale, most fruits are picked in the wild and i have to manage fruits ripeness, distance and other things like weather. Also, by the past, i had to manage some eagers buyers that are also uncivil.
I will no more accept orders from people that cannot wait few days for an email reply and are daily sending messages like "Hey, where r my seeds ? ? ? ? ? ?" without any minimum greeting. In that forum, we are all growing seeds, trees and patience too. A minimum of courtesy will be greatly appreciated too.

I ship worldwide, only by priority airmail with tracking. Since covid crisis, tracking service is working erraticly, for some cases or period it may take several days for first updates.
I'm not responsible if packets is lost or confisced by destinatories customs.
If you think you need special way of shippment (CN22 customs declaration, invoice, etc...) please don't hesitate to ask me, as i would do by best for you to have best chances to receive ordered seeds.
Unfortunately, i cannot provide any phyto certificate.
About seeds import permits, some rules ask for seeds to be shipped absolutely free from any material with it. But it is impossible for me to ship recalcitrant seeds without any moist medium : 90% of seeds will arrive unviable despite of a good appearance. So, except for special request, all recalcitrant seeds are packed with moist vermiculite or coco fiber to ensure the seeds to reach you healthy.
Generally, i try to ship more seeds quantity than ordered, to compensate a low germination rate due to eventually an extended delivery time and also because i know it is always a pleasure to receive more than expected :).

Thanx by advance for understanding.

Hello to all,

I've found this super exciting fruit in the Guiana's primary forest.

Tree is 20 meters tall, and produce 2 to 5 cm long yellow pear shaped fruits.
Fruit skin is thin and soft like Abiu but no latex.

Almost all fruits are single seeded (1- 1,5 cm long), few larger fruits contains 2 to 3 seeds.
Pulp is translucid, very sweet and aromatic, i found it better than all Abiu i've tasted.

Despite its smaller size, pulp ratio is great.
Unfortunately, lot of fruits were worms attacked.
I will definitely grow it in my backyard !
I've done several research to ID it but nothing.
Its a Sapotaceae, probably a Pouteria member but all Pouteria ID keys i've tried does not match.
If someone have a clue, it would be great !

Hello everyone,

I was able to collect one fruit of a very rare specie : Duguetia surinamensis.
Fruits are bigs and weight 1,5kg in average.
Unfortunately, the fruit i've collected was rotten and cannot tell the taste. Fruit is appreciated by natives.
It's very hard to collect fruit. Its appear that fruits from flowers take more than a year and ripe on the tree and do not fall to the ground unless monkeys try to eat them.
Few seeds available.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Kasim (Annona paludosa)
« on: March 13, 2021, 08:27:06 PM »
After several months of meticulous surveillance, I was finally able to pick a Kasim fruit (Annona paludosa) before the fauna made it disappear. This species is often confused with Annona sericea also called Kasim by the natives. I myself distributed the seeds of A. sericea, thinking that it was A. paludosa.
These shrubs have the same silhouette typical of small Annonas like A. squamosa. The foliage of A. paludosa and A. sericea is very similar, but the leaves are significantly smaller.
The fruit of A. paludosa is larger (up to 7 cm long and 5 cm wide, and yellow when ripe. It closely resembles Rollinia deliciosa.
The flesh is described as firm but I found it very creamy.
The flavor is not as sweet as Biriba but very pleasant with a surprising spicy taste.
I will try to find other fruits on other trees to see if there is variability in the quality and size of the fruits.
In all likelihood, this species appears to be dioecious.

Hello everyone,

Just found this very nice Myrtaceae in the forest of Guiana but i'm stuck to identificate it. It doesnt match to all myrtaceae members ID keys i've found.

Here is some pics :

Hi everyone,

Here are the current Guiana's fruits seeds list with availability and prices.
This list is updated regularly according to trips in the forest.
For enquiries, please send me PM or e-mail (sometime i can take several days to reply, feel free to insist ;D )

I'm also selling other interesting seeds (medicinal, fruit or ornamental) on my ebay store : https://www.ebay.fr/usr/colombo40358
Price are bit higher due to ebay fees. Please contact me for special request.

I can ship by priority airmail (cheap, reliable but no tracking) or by registered (higher reliability and tracking). Both have same delivery time. No EMS or Express mail services.

I do my best to send ultra fresh seeds. As most of Guiana's seeds are recalcitrant, i use to extract, clean and pack seeds on same day i ship the packet, and it happens that i have to wait several days for fruit to ripe.
Please understand that i do not store the seeds, so don't expect me to send order on next day after payment done.

Important note : with current covid crisis, delivery time can be very delayed, up to 4-6 weeks for some countries with lockdown.
Seeds are sent packed with moist coco coir and can handle several weeks without any problems.

Seeds list, prices and availability :

Pouteria macrophylla aka Taturuba (Sapotaceae) TOP DWARF VARIETY

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Sapotaceae identification
« on: July 19, 2020, 12:58:10 PM »
Hi there,

I've found a very interesting fruit in the amazonian forest.
No doubt it is a Sapotaceae family member, but after checking most identification keys i'm stuck identifying this species.

I was able to harvest 3 ripe fruits. Fruits are intensively eaten by monkeys.

Flavor is very nice, sweet acid balanced with some few fibers.
Taste somewhat like a sweet kumquat mixed with slightly unripe mango.
1 to 4 seeds per fruit.
Lot of juicy pulp surrounding the seeds but the pulp near the rind can be eaten with a spoon like Star apple fruit.
Rind contains lot of white latex.
Any help for identification of this great fruit would be appreciated :)

Important note : with current covid crisis, delivery time can be very delayed, up to 4-6 weeks for most countries and sometime more, depending of local lockdown effects. Seeds are sent packed with moist coco coir and can handle several weeks without problems.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Fruits ID
« on: February 13, 2019, 09:06:51 PM »
Hi Guys,

This year, I'm back to hunt the fruits of the Guianas. I just came back from a trip in the woods and picked up two fruits I had never found before and have a bit of trouble identifying them. If anyone has any idea about these species, thanks in advance !

First one :

Tree produce heavy amount of white latex. Fruit is green when unripe and turn brownish when ripe. Very good amount of pulp, no latex inside fruit, taste is very very pleasant, similar to meliccocus bijugatus.
Licania species ?

Second fruit :

At first look, i was thinking about Annona montana, but leaves are very different, but sure it's a annonaceae. I was not able to taste it as all fruits are unripe. I will come back to the tree (only 4 meters tall, unusual size in deep forest) in 2 weeks.

Early cultivar, medium to big fruits (2kg), taste is excellent.
I ship only sprouted seeds. 4€/seed. Limited quantity.

Hi everybody,

I've found another tree of the unidentified cauliflorous sapotaceae, and this tree is far more stunning that the first one ( http://tropicalfruitforum.com/index.php?topic=20385.0 )
I'm not sure if it is the same specie because the shape of the tree is different, the trunk is shorter and fruits have more pulp and taste is not the same. It could be a different variety too.
Despite of my search, it is still unidentified.
I have to say that it is one of the most spectacular fruiting trees i've found in the forest.
Fully loaded of orange fruits covering trunk and main branches, it reminds me a Jaboticaba tree, so i've called it Sapoticaba.
Monkeys seems to be crazy about eating the fruits. Taste is very nice, refreshing after walking several hours in the deep forest, but still lacking of pulp.
I'll be glad if one of the experts members could ID the sapoticaba.
Here some pics.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Pouteria and Moraceae ID
« on: June 12, 2016, 09:59:48 PM »
Hi everyone,

I found two fruits in the forest and i struggle to identification. I'll be glad if someone can ID them.

The first one in with no doubt a Sapotaceae, maybe a cauliflorous Pouteria species.
Few fruits on the tree, hanging at 6 meters high. Fruit taste like banana, scant pulp clinging to the seeds. Pleasant to keep sucking in the mouth for a while...
Here the pics :

The second one probably come from the Moraceae family, i wasn't able to spot the tree. Fruits were on the ground, most of them already eaten by wild animals. It look like a giant mulberry fruit. Each cluster contains a black seed with sweet pulp around. What a weird fruit ! :o

Thanx for help !

New fresh seeds avalaible.
One of the most delicious amazonian fruit i've ever tasted. Taste like mullberry crossed with strong strawberry flavor, skin is thin and slightly acidic. Excellent pulp seed ratio.
This specie have a great potential as commercial crop for raw fruits or transformed.
Takini is closely related to Cannabis sativa and natives use leaves and bark for shamanic beverage. It is said that bark sap produce same effects as Cannabis s.
So far, i've found only one tree, so seeds quantity is very limited.
Dioecious plant, only female trees bear fruits.
Tree is 7 meters tall in deep forest, so should be smaller in open space.
Pm if interested.
