try hot pepper oil!

I bet they can't handle the scold of the Scoville 1,000,000unit!

Has anyone tried this?

My lychee has lived with them now for years ...... they are just a part of life now.  I've tried everything including gooey sticky stuff around the trunk n limbs.

I will say this ...... there is a small bird ( maybe a sparrow ) that has taken note and it rips through the tree and eats 20 or 30 in 2 minutes. I actually think it keeps my population in check.

I have thought about putting a bird feeder underneath the tree in hopes more birds would learn the weevils are there and start hunting them

https://biologicco.com/product/scanmask-spray/

I tried this recently and am not sure how it worked. I have much less then previous
years but they are not eliminated, yet. I hope to report soon that they are gone.

I believe I have figured out how to stop them. I have done this at multiple locations and they either totally disappear or have greatly reduce.

Try mulching heavy. Really really heavy across large areas. I normally put down 16" - 24" and I believe that will disrupt the life cycle of eating leaves and pupating in ground. If you are doing new plantings in sandy soil I recommend making large mounds and then mulching a gigantic ocean of mulch around the entire planting.

I use the free trimmer mulch and it settles a bit after a month or so. Don't go too crazy since you can suffocate your trees. Two feet should be plenty.

I beleive I have greatly reduced Diaprepes with beneficial nematodes in my mucky soil. I can't be certain but it seemed to do the trick. When you get these make sure you look at them under a microscope to make sure they are still alive. I had to have Arbico send out 3 packages before I got a viable batch of one of their species.

This is probably the only method that really works on them:

Nah, needle nose pliers really cuts down on their population. I must admit when I catch a pair... well... pairing I have mixed feelings when they go crunch. Maybe not a bad way to go eh :-)

I just crush them with fingers. Their goo is a good moisturizer.

I have also used beneficial nematodes and found lot of improvement. In a month or so after I applied nematodes they seems to be down by almost 90%. I just bought it from Amazon as it was much cheaper there compared to other sources.....

Ugh, that's worse than popping a major whitehead, but they're crunchy when you do it.

I'll spring for a few bucks and get an OTC remedy like Vaseline intensive care for dry skin. Jeez, even my Goldfish won't eat them when one drops in the barrel.
