Avacado's I get confused?
« on: January 13, 2014, 07:03:06 PM »
I just bought a small piece of property and am planning out the things that will grow there ...... I need a cold hardy variety as it will get below 32 degrees for a day or 2 every other winter ...... I have a brogdon at my house already, a fl hass at my office so I am looking for best tasting cold hardy ....... And maybe a different harvest season than what I have?  Day? Lula? Hall?

Lula is solid avocado tree. There are still 20 Lula left on a neighbors tree. I picked off two today that were high up. They are so hard they could probably be hanging even 30-40 days from now if you wanted to leave them up there for later eating. Lula I picked will be soft and edible in 6-7 days. In previous years the fruits would get soft sooner once picked. Hopefully I get lula avocados off my own young tree in 2014

In the Swapshop Flea Market yesterday I saw vendors selling what looked like Florida avocados off local trees. They were not lula.... Maybe Monroe
