They are very common here and are called rosellas like the parrots. The old women make jam and chutneys out of them and there seems to be many recipes.

Yeah, it's pretty good gear too. Very commonly sold at markets, in fact as jam/ jelly is the only way I have eaten rosellas, never tried a fresh one.
