Thank you so much for your kind words and for placing an order! I'm delighted to hear that you found our website easy to navigate and the PayPal payment process was smooth. We've worked hard to create a user-friendly experience.

I really appreciate you taking the time to report back on the website's performance. Honest feedback like yours helps us understand if our efforts are paying off in terms of providing a responsive and enjoyable shopping experience.

Since you mentioned the site's speed, I'll be transparent - we weren't entirely sure how well it would perform under higher traffic. Your positive report helps put our minds at ease on that front. But we're always striving to optimize further.

If you have any other feedback or suggestions for improvements, please don't hesitate to share them. We're committed to constantly enhancing our customers' online experience.

Thank you again for your support, and enjoy those seeds! We look forward to hearing about your growing adventures.

the category feature is very useful.  i just ordered all the seeds in the dry climate category for my public food forest.

Thank you for the feedback! We really appreciate your support and are glad the category feature is useful. We've been working tirelessly for years to improve our service and provide high-quality seeds. It's an enormous effort obtaining these seeds from the rainforests, involving multiple dedicated collectors across various regions.

We are deeply committed to supporting local communities and understand the critical importance of conservation efforts. By adopting these species, you are helping save them from potential extinction - a noble cause we are passionate about.

On another note, we are actively working to enhance our shipping timelines. We kindly request your patience as we navigate these challenges to get your orders out as quickly as possible. Thank you for your understanding and support of our mission.

Mine are like yours, bought from FL grower as "red" without any other name.

Cool: it would be nice to know if most of the red hybrid jabos are red or not. Or if the black ones are better or not.

10
Here's a few photos of my Red Hybrids... Dark Red maybe?

Thanks, I would call them dark red or maybe black under certain lighting conditions. Ours seem to be full black.

11
So are all your hybrid jabos just red?

12
Congrats! it could be from my seeds.. it if has less than 10 secondary veins, it is not Psidium guajava, maybe P. guineense or some hybrid.

The velvet tamarind (Dialium guineense) is indeed a tropical tree native to West and Central Africa. Most sources list it as only being able to tolerate very light frosts down to around 30°F (-1°C) for short periods.

However, there are some reports from growers in marginally cold areas who have had success growing it outside its native tropical range with some protection. It seems the key factors are:

Providing frost protection when temperatures dip below freezing, such as by using a greenhouse, cold frame, or moving potted plants indoors.

Allowing the plant to go slightly dormant in winter by reducing water.

Situating it in a warm, sheltered microclimate.

Use "wilt pruf"

Since you're in Santa Cruz (zone 9b) and had a mild winter in your passive greenhouse, that likely provided just enough protection for your velvet tamarind seedlings to thrive. As they get larger, established trees may tolerate short light frosts with some leaf burn.

But prolonged hard freezes would likely kill them back to the ground or entirely. So continue providing maximum frost protection, especially when young. Let the soil dry out more in winter too.

I'd love to hear updates on how your plants fare as they get older and experience colder winters. It's a wonderful edible with potential for growing outside the tropics with good micro-climate selection and care. Wishing you success!

Hello, I believed that all our Hybrid jaboticabas would bear red fuits but the fact is that are all black in the end.

They are DELICIOUS, but... why? We live in Argentina and the sellers just get them from Brazil.

What is you experience about them?

Are all your hybrid jaboticabas red or black? Do you have some black one? Or just all red?
