Thanks very much for the mundu fruit Joshua, had them last night and I can say they were absolutely delicious. Unlike anything I have tasted, very hard to explain the flavour. The flesh on the skin was consistency like mango but tasted tangy and the flesh on the sed was delicate sweet flavoured and consistency of very soft banana but tasted nothing like one. Definately worth getting wether a garcinia collector or not. Good to catch up with fellow member also.
Thanks again josh.

That's great Don I'm glad you liked them and great to meet you. This fruit has been one of my 2015 new discovery highlights I'll post some pics when mine come up. I'm trialing some subsurface and some just on surface germinating.

Is this tree dioecious or can one tree produce fruit all by itself?

How long from seed to fruting (roughly)

Thanks a lot!!

Joshua was kind enough to share some of the fruit with me, they were a little overripe by the time I got to them but still tasty. On further reflection I think if you liked yellow cherry guava you would like these. Slightly tart, aromatic but no fruit fly/grubs/bugs and would go well in shady spots. Can't say I could ID the species but the yellow mangosteen that grow at my location are so sour you almost use them to play pranks on people, and these ones were good enough I ate 4 in a row without my face melting or teeth dissolving. I wouldn't mind having one of these in my lunch box from time to time, which is all it takes to get a spot in the ground around here.

A few of mine are starting to sprout. I'm fact the majority of my fruit seeds are starting to sprout now. I guess it has to do with the warm weather.

1 of my seeds has sprouted thus far, so hoping the others will be affected by peer pressure and join the party

The same variety of dulcis is the most common in my area and there are some big productive trees. In the 90s people seem to be chasing another variety which was sweeter and when Russells sweet turned up there was confusion about if it also was a sweet dulcis.
Anyway Joshuas dulcis should be easy to grow, gets to be a good sized tree and can  handle fairly cool conditions as some are on the tablelands near me.

Hi Mike, do you know if this type of G. Dulcis is Dioecious? I need to find out if I want to plant one or tree, also would you think that could be able to work to pollinate my single survivor Russells sweet seedling?

Considering the isolated treed with fruit I have seen I think they are mono.Good question about compatibility with Russells sweet and perhaps but I don't know. They are clearly closely related.
