Title: Clementino Rubino
Post by: Susanne42 on July 30, 2017, 01:39:21 PM
My little seedling Clementino Rubino is showing some new growth. I think she likes her new home :)
I can see some new shots on the sides and makes me wonder if this variety is rather a bush form then a tree? Some of the leaves at the top were lost right after arriving and I think it might have been because of the heat while in transport. They also hat black tips. Everything new look nice :)

Does this have another name?  Never heard of it and I thought I'd seen all the blood oranges/mandarins.

Good growth, Susanne. I've just ordered one from Agrumi Lenzi!

It looks like it grew well since july and it looks healthy.

I also have one since two years, it flowered a lot this spring, but I have only 6 fruits that remain on the tree, the others fell down when they where as big as a green pea. I'm looking forward to taste them.

I would love to see your tree. Is it grafted or on its own roots? How old?

It's a grafted young tree, but I don't know on what it is grafted and could not tell you how old it is.

Here are the pictures, he's a bit chlorotic.

Such a beautiful tree, thank you for sharing. Do you have a greenhouse or take the tree in your house with artificial light for the winter months?

I just put them in the cold garage when the temperatures drops below 32 F. They have only little light from a North West window.
And during the winter I can take them outside and inside of the garage a few times, as I don't want to let them inside when they announce no freeze for more than a week ::)
For the moment it works good doing like that.

Beautiful Tree Florian. Looks like this is a more common variety in Europe?

Actually, I didn't know it and had never seen it before, Susanne. I just noticed the Agrumi Lenzi link and instantly wanted to have one! Our country's only specialist nursery (Eisenhut) doesn't currently stock it.
I was surprised to find the tag on it, so it can't be too rare..

That's a nice tree. If you take good care of it, it will surely flower next year :D
