Ruby Valencia: An orange with the flavor and characteristics of grapefruit. A new citrus variety, I would LOVE to get this tree for my collection.

It's unclear to me how this is better than a grapefruit?

There are people that love grapefruit, but can longer eat it because they are taking cholesterol medication.
This Ruby Valencia orange may be a great alternative.

With valencia in the name... isn't there already a valencia-type blood orange - Smith Red? I read about it a while back on our forum here: http://tropicalfruitforum.com/index.php?topic=13814.0 (http://tropicalfruitforum.com/index.php?topic=13814.0)
Is Ruby Valencia a "juice orange" with the double juice production gene? Or just confusingly named? :)

Well, if it tastes and smells like a grapefruit, but won't cause the grapefruit related medication problems I'd be interested in trying one myself.
I'm one of those folks who had to give them up and have regretted it.

Looks like this one is patented, at least in SA.
