So in one of the references it said that only female trees will produce fruit. Are the females self-fertile? Or do we need a male and female?

Its hard to find a lot of solid information on some of these rarer species. From some further research, depending on the genetics of the plant the flowers can be unisexual or bisexual. I would have no idea if these are bisexual flowering trees, since I did not collect the initial seeds. The good news is, I have a couple trees and others have a few as well. Stamvrug has reported to respond well to rooting from cuttings, so it will be easy to root clones and share. I am sure the tree will be graftable as well.

It appears that Stamvrug is gynodioecious - that is, plants are either female or bisexual. In general, this means that bisexual plants can be fertilized by themselves, while female-only plants can only be fertilized by bisexual plants.  This does not answer A) whether there's a self-incompatibility mechanism, and if not B) whether the plants are self-pollinating or whether they need a pollinator.  Just statistically I would guess A) no, and B) yes, but those would just be guesses.
