« on: November 23, 2016, 03:17:41 AM »
Hi all, i have a young mango tree to which i want to drench chelated iron (eddha 6%).
Is it ok (or better) to drench now (and drench again in the spring)? or should i wait for january/february and do nothing now?

I think iron is the one element that you can't overdo.
You won't burn a plant the way NPK do.
This time of year plants aren't taking up much of anything, not sure how much good it will do.
If you have a known deficiency, I guess you could do it.

Is it showing leaf chlorosis?  If not, don't worry about it.

I apply it March to October. I divide my application for the year into  monthly application. Works better than two larger application a year> I do  about 5 lbs an acre.  That is not much but if I space it into smaller application with the irrigation water seems to work better for me. That is not to say that once a year I apply a bit extra to a few trees that get a little yellow but the spacing out of the smaller dose seems to require less of this individual intervention.

Here is a pic of the tree, two weeks ago i drenched and foliar fed it with zinc and manganese (5% zinc and 5% manganese product), as it showed signs of zinc deficiency. I am not sure if it needs iron as well. some leaves are in bad shape, may be fertilizer burn?

From this pic I see no chlorosis.   Yes, it is showing salts toxicity which shows as necrosis/burn on leaf margins and tips.

Ok, so i will not add any fertilizer till spring.
Do you think i can pug it next february? (i mean will it recover from the fertilizer burn during the next 3 months so it will be ready for a pug in february?)

I'd do a soil analysis in and around the area or if you got the bucks to burn do one analysis around the tree and another 20' away to see what your native soil is like regarding NPK and micros values.

I only top to train a tree into the profile I'm looking for.  For example...... http://tropicalfruitforum.com/index.php?topic=21887.0

Got an Inga bullata whose leaves went this brown color. I thought it might have been due to temps getting low at the beginning of winter, so I took indoors. But now I think it is in need of chelation perhaps?

Edit: It cannot be sunburn because here it is winter and was in part shade anyway.

Eugenia luschnathiana = CURUIRI.    Talisia esculenta = PITOMBA
I do not recommend people deal with Fruit Lovers, Prisca Mariya or Fernando Malpartida

The tree is small. The sun can burn the leaves. Cut off the dried leaves.
