Haircut time?
« on: June 19, 2017, 08:35:34 PM »
Should I give my stonefruit trees a haircut now?  All of the fruits are harvested.  Or is it better to wait till fall?  If I trim now maybe they will do a second flush?

Here's one expert's opinion about pruning stone fruits; from Dave Wilson's website:

Good luck, Brad!

Thanks Samu, I did a pretty heavy pruning on my younger trees today.  I have a box of scions with your name on them going in the mail today.

A Box? Just a few scions in a padded envelope will do, I think...
PM-me, if there's any scions you want from me; thanks Brad!

Dont worry its just a few pieces in a small box.  Most of it ended up on the feet of the trees as mulch.  I really trimmed the new bare root trees planted this winter back to 5 main branches the make a V shape out.  Hopefully they shape up nicely.  Time will tell.
