Ruby Valencia: An orange with the flavor and characteristics of grapefruit.  A new citrus variety, I would LOVE to get this tree for my collection.

It's unclear to me how this is better than a grapefruit?

There are people that love grapefruit, but can longer eat it because they are taking cholesterol medication.
This Ruby Valencia orange may be a great alternative.

With valencia in the name... isn't there already a valencia-type blood orange - Smith Red?    I read about it a while back on our forum here:  http://tropicalfruitforum.com/index.php?topic=13814.0

Is Ruby Valencia a "juice orange" with the double juice production gene?   Or just confusingly named?  :)

A.T. Hagan:
Well, if it tastes and smells like a grapefruit, but won't cause the grapefruit related medication problems I'd be interested in trying one myself.

I'm one of those folks who had to give them up and have regretted it.
