Sunrise is pretty upright. Pina Colada is more of a spreading growth habit and not as vigorous.

Any more thoughts about this variety- for example, about its....*drumroll*... production? Much appreciated.

I would say jury still out on ultimate production.  Dont really care that much what a 3 year old tree does production wise.  From what I saw 3 years ago, production seemed pretty good from mother tree.  I know it produced some crop last year though it was not a great mango year for some varieties last year (due to blooming time and conditions).  I know this year is up in the air, I know powdery mildew hit the mother tree so will have to wait and see.

Failed to bloom, but its still too small.

Wanted to know when to pick peach cobbler mango. I have one that is over 1.5 lb. Past few i picked got too soft afger ripening. Flavor is amazing and just had one woth brix 28.

Peach cobbler turns yellow for me and i would twist it off after color change.  I had one that i left one the tree and it fell.  While fruit was still good, a decent portion was unedible due to being too soft

I believe that is my issue too, that is why I asked when to pick so it doesnt turn soft. OR is that this variety's characteristic?

It will go overripe quickly if allowed to start to turn soft on the tree. Harvest it green/firm when the color turns to a lighter shade.

That was my problem. I let it color up on the tree.
However I did eat a few peach cobblers this season, and they were delicious. Peachy with a cinnamon spice note to them. Richly flavored.

So anyone here reporting on the Pina Colada for this year? I have one and it is a slow grower. It is finally pushing out it's second flush since planting it this year. My CC is doing fantastic and is pushing out it's 3rd round of foliage. Kind of interesting to see if I may have to get rid of my CC if a Pina Colada taste similar. Anyone reporting a difference in taste?

Funny thing, the CC fruits I've eating from my CC tree reminds me of virgin pina colada. I have not eating a pina colada mango though.

Very different taste. PC is sweeter and more robust. Almost too much for some people. Can be a bit "chalky" on the less ripe side.

CC is milder with less acid component, and the coconut dominates more most of the time.

I like PC better myself but the fruit are too small and have a poor flesh-to-seed ratio.

My PC looks like it died after pugging it. Seems like the stress took the life away from it. I will keep it until next year in hopes that it is just dormant. It was a very vigorous grower prior to pugging it, It gave about 8-12 new branches from the node. Deers kept chewing away at though>>>
