Grafting budwood with pushed buds (CCPP)

Hello everyone, i ordered budwood from CCPP and it arrived today. There is one variety that i want more than the others. I ordered Tahitian Pommelo, Pink Lemonade Eureka (which i already have, don't know why I ordered it) and New Zealand Lemonade. I am DYING for the New Zealand lemonade, but all of the buds pushed on all of the budwood I got for this variety. Is it still possible to graft budwood that has already pushed, if so, what grafting technique is best employed?

the buds have opened and looks like they have tiny leaflets pushing out.

The budwood likely will work. I'd try rather than throw it out. Sometimes a second bud will emerge.

That just looks like the old leaf bases, rub your finger over them & they should come right off...

Run the leaf bases off (arrow) the buds are under them circled...

Did it take a while for them to push? What did you do to encourage growth? I budded some about a month ago and just took a blade and made a few notches above the bud. Should I prune back the rootstock? First time budding citrus so looking for some tips (I know there have been other posts and online sources about this but looking for a technique that someone with recent success vouches for 😀)

I cut the rootstock off about 1 inch above the bud. If the bud doesn't take the rootstock will grow back.

I did the notch above the bud but it didn't work. Maybe I needed to make it wider. I'll try it next time.
From experience, topping the rootstock does work, as well as bending the rootstock down to below the bud.
