Desert ... as much as my family loves to eat them green, true greatness of mangoes aren't in that stage.

I'll do the conversion once everything is completed or near completion, how's that?  ;D  jk  I will update as we go along.

What I meant was.. Should the choices be "green, dessert, both" as opposed to "Poor, fair, good, Excellent". Cause right now, we have both formats in the same column. Some mangos are definitely better eaten green.

Tim, you need to try the Khun See. Its excellent green.

Thanks so much for this Murahlin and SQUAM!!!!!!!

I don't see the "other viewers" button on the right side
when I open it, Mura.
Anyway I added a couple things -
but like someone said - the HEROIC members should have
some great filler information for much of the list.

And I was intrigued by Pan's idea of degree days - seems like
that WOULD be the general key as to when something would fruit.
Seems like that kind of science would align with the plant's inner computer.
Not even sure if that info is available much for the diff. species....

BUt this whole charting idea is conceptually POTENT!

GaryFang

If no one else is in the document it won't show the other viewers button.

Once again, please do not change any of the names of the categories I made. If you would like to suggest something different, mention it here. Do not take it upon yourself to change it. Someone changed the Fruit Season category to Fruit Seasons in Florida so I deleted everything that was Florida specific. If we need a FL column it can be separate but I am not sure if we need one.

Do you guys think we need a separate column for Florida Seasons?

Late, mid-season, early are not specific enough. If you want to extend the mango season with fewer trees then it would be nice to have the month and year for South Florida. For example Lemon Meringue is coming in early June in 2012. Keep this for each year. We record LM in 2013, 2014 etc

You would need another spread sheet

How does one insert an image into the picture cell?

I tried selecting that cell, clicking insert, and image.   The picture covered up many cells.

Should I be inserting a link instead?   Or?

The Browards Rare Fruit Tree Council has a nice list of mangos on their website:

http://www.rfvcbroward.org/mangos.html
www.FLMangos.com

110+ fruit trees/plants; 60+ mango trees; 9 jackfruit; 6 avocado; 3 persimmon; longan; and a dog that keeps raccoons and squirrels away.

Same problem here. I went to it because I was curious about their list though. Ours is much more comprehensive. Maybe they can use our list on their website once we finish it.

Yes, Murahlin - I think if we are going to mention the seasons for fruiting it should be specific to the region it applies to.  Also, I'm adding some information on the Kook Lom Krong, but it is hearsay from someone else's mouth.  IS this OK....you'll see it with the KOOK mango when i finish it here....

I don't see it there either. Try re-adding it and see what happens.

OK - re-entered it and added a few comments.  Now, is this supposed to be some kind of "official" knowledge of the variety or what someone told you or "the word on the street" kind of information?  A Lynn from Frankie's is where I gleaned this info from the old tropical fruit forum and I am using it like it pulls some weight, as there is so little on the internet about Kook Lom Krong...

Perhaps some info is better than nothing?  Or...perhaps the Source of the information should be revealed (oh but then if 5 people add stuff to a variety you might have 5 different sources!)

good idea Gary. I'm going to add Bizcochuelo to the list. I'll have to look in the archives of the old GW forum for my description of this legendary Cuban variety.

That would be Frankie's wife. She is very knowledgeable. In fact she is the one that does all the grafting at that nursery.

Great list, already learned some new info about one of the mangoes I am growing (did not know it was poly).
Grow mainly fruits, vegetables, and herbs.

Just noticed some mangoes are not showing up, for example I'm only listing

5
11
22
120
135 (nothing)
136  from this entry on it looks ok.

not sure if this is just a problem on my side or its happening to everyone.

I'm having the same problem.  It looks like someone deleted a lot of mangos from the list.

The list is also showing Southern Blush and Spirit of 76 as early?  I thought they both fruited about the same time in June or July.

The list also shows San Felipe as early.  PIN says it fruits in June.  Is June considered early?  I thought that was mid season.
