sea level is rising. no "nwo" here, don't even know who those people are.

I just care about relationships, plants, and science. ignorance of truth is ignorant. army corps of engineers has to deal with it too, and they are.

higher ground and stable source of non-salinated water makes sense.

There is an area near Orlando that is elevated. Locals even call it a "mountain" lol.

The Lakes Wales Ridge extends for about 150 miles north to south in the center of the state starting west of Orlando.  What's being done with all the land where orange groves used to be?  In an ideal world (where trees should predominate) we would probably see mango, avocado, and lychee (maybe even macadamia nut) orchards popping up there.

Some inaccurate info in this thread. There's a ridge in Bokeelia. 'High and dry', not a flood zone (no flood insurance required) and near the coast. Most all other areas on the island are in a flood zone. This ridge is where most of the fruit and palm production is on the island. Further north than Homestead but protected by waters around the island.

"There's not really city water available" The island has access to reverse osmosis city water (Greater Pine Island Water) and plants love it.

Good luck!

Here's the NOAA sea level rise viewer. With 7 ft of rise not much remains of Pine Island.
