i have a large satsuma tree that ripens starting in early Jan and goes through early March.
i just bought a blood orange. i have no idea when it ripens
but i really would like some citrus in late spring and summer ?
I like my satsuma, its sweet and tart, but i really prefer a sweet orange taste
in New Orleans - 9a / 9b border

Valencia is a late maturing sweet citrus, and can hang very well on the tree until the middle of the sumer.- Millet

Encore mandarin may be something you may want to look into.
I do agree with you: citrus to me look like a fruit better enjoyed with warm weather.

Pancrazio, thanks for bringing that mandarin to our attention. I've heard of the mandarin, but knew little about it. It really is a late maturing mandarin, available from March all the way into July. It is amazing that the Encore Mandarin can be left hanging on the tree into late August early September without losing much flavor plus not becoming puffy. Most mandarins puff up if not picked soon after maturity. The UCR Variety collection, says the flavor is good even when held on the tree for an extended time.. I might have to try that one.- Millet

Yes, it was quite a surprise for me too. Looks awesome and bearing in summer may help to close the "dead zone" in citrus availability.
Now i've got to try it.
I hope to get some budwood next year from Corse.
