A baby sapodilla!
« on: October 08, 2020, 03:17:21 PM »

After about 2 months of flowering, the alano finally sets fruit. I have heard that production is increased with another cultivar? What cultivar would you recommend? Any tips?
Thanks

Makok is my favorite and it stays fairly small.

From the bit of reading I’ve done on Sapodillas, Alano is one of the most productive. I know for sure that Alano is one of the most productive in the San Diego area but things may be different in your climate. I bet with size and age, your tree will produce a lot more fruit.

The Makok is the most productive of them all, but the fruit is small. Alano is a really good producer as well; the fruit is bigger than the Makok but not as big as that or Morena, Molix, Tikal  or Hasya.
