Title: Trifoliate orange
Post by: D-Grower on July 25, 2019, 09:31:18 AM
I grew a bunch of trifoliate orange seedlings. If I were to individually pot a bunch is there any interest for them here? Not sure exactly what cultivar but it was a bit contorted. Picked the fruits from a tree on a job site in Panama city, FL. Lady said the tree came from Israel and she knew it as an Israeli crown of thorns tree. However it is a trifoliate orange. Made for a cool looking tree though. Would probably be good graft stock too.

It would be a lot cheaper to not pot. Pull the seedlings, wrap roots in moist paper towels and secure the wrapped root ball in a zip lock bag. Send them like this. Be sure you are familiar with your states specifications for sending plants to other places.

Yes they'd have to stay in FL to be legal.

You can send out seeds.  I would love to buy some from you.

D-Grower, it is illegal to send citrus of any kind out of the state of Florida.  It is also illegal to propagate citrus in Florida, even planting a citrus seed.  The only legal propagation in Florida is inside a state approved scree house with positive air flow.

That's good to know. Thanks sir for the heads up! Thought it was only that you couldn't ship citrus out of state unless you processed a license or whatever.

One can not propagate or cross state boundries in Florida. One can not even buy budwood in FL unless...he is a regestered and approved/inspected nursery using it for research......
