Passiflora edulis fruit deformation
« on: August 11, 2020, 12:42:06 AM »
My purple edulis is making some deformed fruit, with thicker rind then normal. Last year I had the same problem with this particular plant, the fruits ripened and had very little pulp inside, due to the thicker rind. Some deformation on the leaves is also happening .

The plant is grafted onto cerulea rootstock.

I don’t have experience with P edulis but my initial reaction is those fruits are immature.

yes they are immature ,but when when they mature they stay the same shape ,deformed. I have a non grafted purple pf and hers fruits start with perfect shape ,and end up so . The strange thing is this year the plant has around ten fruits of whom only one was deformed (the one in the pics).last year it had many more ,but all of them were deformed with rind varying in thickness and bums all over the inner walls of the fruit, and easily distinguishable bumpy outlook .
