Mallika Mango taste!!
« on: September 06, 2019, 09:25:11 AM »
Wow!! Despite being rather small! My first  #mallikamango was absolutely Delicious! And it fell from the tree I ended up finding it on the ground the next morning lol! Here goes my best attempts to describe the taste. The aroma when cut is incredible,   intense rich mango Flavored raw Honey, with a incredible creamy buttery Flan textured Flesh, I wish I had one of those sugar reading things lol because Mallikas sweetness is off the charts! But it also has a very rich thick mango spice flavor that balances out the Syrupy sweetness perfectly, got 3 more on my potted tree can’t wait for them to ripen up!
update: Second Mallika just dropped! Syrupy sickeningly sweet!  not for the faint of heart lol! Intensely rich and  sweet Butterscotch/creamsicle taste!!!!

Thank you! Yes in Atlanta on my apartment patio in a 15 gallon fabric pot, I also have a Maha Chanok that has 6 fruits on it also and the Mallika has 3 more fruit left on it. Trees were purchased in January of this year, and fruited the same year!

Congratulations! Mallika is a great mango. I tried them harvested mature green ripen and in the bag, and ripen on the tree. Both methods presented with a great tasting mango!

Very cool that you actually fruited it there :). Yep its delicious. Citrus/Carroty/Papaya and at its best very sweet.

No where to plant it ...but at least I got it. ;)

Thank you! Thank goodness I did not taste any carrot or papaya flavors in my fruit lol, that’s what I was afraid off! But instead it was just a very very rich sweet honey, and  creamsicle mango flavor

Congratulations growing any mango so far out of zone is an accomplishment with many odds against you. The next challenge will be to overwinter it.

Great to hear.  Mallika is the only mango tree I have, simply because it was the only variety I happened to find locally.  I expect mine will fruit next year.

Wow, congrats! One of the best-tasting mangoes out there. Btw, what potting mix did you use for growing them in fabric bags?

Thank you! Hey I use a 50/50 mix of  palm/citrus/cactus mix and mix that with orchid potting soil mix in about 2 pounds of worm castings and and 2 pounds of azomite into each pot also
