Yes, as Oscar already pointed out, northern pawpaws (as opposed to papayas) have nothing tropical about them.   They barely survive in the colder areas of the subtropics.

When planting pawpaws, plant two or more varieties, for pollination requirements.

Remember that the Peterson varieties are patented, and so may not be propagated without a contract with Neal Peterson.

Please anyone can send me seeds from paw paw from good fruits? Of course i will buy them... Thank's!

No need to plant seeds from good fruits... here in europe you won't find the last Peterson's clones, but there's a decent selection of cultivar available . Take a look here: http://demoerbeiboom.be/nl/catalogus/pawpaw

I like that Belgian site, never knew that pawpaw can grow in W-Europe. It can stand -30 degree celcius!  I have to try that.

You can translate it here:

I'm not related in any way with both nurseries, but i have had good reviews of both. They ship. Regarding prices, i don't know. The owner should be able to speak english.

Belgium also speaks Dutch so i can read it. It seems you have to use the contact button and email them.

I don't see any other way to order.

Jay,
Have you tasted a naturally grown paw paw?  I have a couple of times and I think that while they may not be as good as a cherimoya, they are not that far off.
I planted 5 seedlings this year and despite a severe drought, they are doing great.
I would give them a couple more years to see if they don't get better in a couple of years.

Yes...tasted some from wild grown seedlings and they were good in a bread!  Eating out of hand?  Not so much.  We had a second one from the tree and it was even further along in ripeness...much softer than the first.  The flavor was a little better.  Texture was much more creamy...durian-like!  Still not ranking it above a 5.

Hi Jay, have you been to the paw paw festival? I think there are paw paw cultivars a lot better than what you describe.

Been meaning to go for the last couple of years but something always gets in the way of doing so.  I'm sure Peterson has made wonderful progress with some of his cultivars.  It's just not striking anything in me to do more with the two trees I have.  Any tree in the GH, I go out of my way to try and propagate.  Just not feeling it with the pawpaw.  Maybe each fruit that comes on will get progressively better like the last one.
