Looks to be well worth the nickel admission so far.  I don't know how you guys do what you do in pots.  Its pretty inspiring.  Anxiously awaiting the updates....

Thanks for th tour  I love all of your selections. Makes me rethink my choice to put everything in the ground. I have been going for a sustainable orchard but containers may make more sense and keep water use down. Can't it to see the next three parts.  Dave

Adam,

Nice pictures looks a little like my container garden. Containers just everywhere smaller ones nestled in-between larger ones to create micro climates. Are you growing Myrica rubra? Would love to see it. Btw, is the Yacon sprouting for you yet? Would love to see the other areas of the garden.
Grow mainly fruits, vegetables, and herbs.

A nickel, why back in my day garden tours were only a penny and they weren't really tours more like work details and no pretty fancy plants to look at neither, just tumble weeds.  Why I remember the last tour... I had an onion tied to my belt, because it was the style at the time......

nice looking garden, interesting to see chaste berry, I think I finally neglected mine to death last year.  Good luck with the M. trunciflora, ooooohhhhhhmmmmmm (positive chants).

cheers,
-Ethan

Have some Myrica rubra seeds planted, none sprouted yet!

The yacon u gave me is sprouted!  It was tasty, I chewed a bit off before planting bulbs..very sweet.

My favorite is the acacia...I only have about 2 of 15 seeds sprouted! and may want more someday!  I should have scarified them I guess....

I  hear acacia does from cutting, so I may have to do a bunch of cuttings!

Thanks Nullzero!

and thanks to all others who have posted such kind comments!

Part 2 will be posted here, and is coming soon.

Good to hear you got at least 2 sprouted, I purchased some sand paper to scarify the next set of seeds. I suggest if you have a in ground annual garden plot to plant some Yacon in the ground (to increase the yields, container may work well if its big enough). Acacia colei may work well companion planted in a large container with some herbs.

I pulled some huge yacon tubers from a fertile garden plot. One of the tubers was around 3 lbs, I juiced it up and it made large amounts of delicious juice! Also great juice extender for other fruits/tropical fruits. Guava+Yacon.... or Lychee + Yacon  ;D.

Anyway, I got some more Acacia colei seeds and a few other fruiting cacti seeds.
Grow mainly fruits, vegetables, and herbs.

Adam, thanks for the pictures, not for the vid, I don't like Lady Gaga...

I have one question: You complain about the city water, but, don't you have the possibility of collecting rainwater in your yard?

I keep u posted on acacia sprouts, and if cuttings work!

Yacon is also very tasty cut in slices in a salad. Provides plenty of crunchy texture and sweetness. Similar to jicama, but better in my opinion. Slices also great in sandwiches or anything else you're eating.

that wasn't lady gaga!  I don't like her either...that was debbie boone.

She's horrible, but I do love u guys for caring about what I care about...rare fruit trees!

The problem with rain water, is you must first have rain! We don't have enough rain to quench my plants thirst (in my Nick Nolte section of garden...heavy drinkers :P ;D)

Well water would be nice, but I rent and will have to put out 200 or more to get well going ...but I may sneak a well in...small one...

Its best option for me..growing all these stupid sensitive myrtaceae. truniclfora, dubia, auraeana, phitrantha, to say the least.

What about a water filtration system? Is alkalinity the main problem? If so i've heard that adding vinegar to the water will acidify it .

Making me hungry for some Yacon now. Yacon is an amazing crop, actually any of the Inca crops are amazing  ;D.

Adam,

I have the same problem with crappy city water. I was using white vinegar for a while to acidify it... However most problems were solved with using a mainly pine bark soil mix and foliar spraying the leaves. PH of the city water last time I tested it was around 8.4!

Aniku - thanks for posting.  And yeah, i agree with Harry - kudos to you guys who raise stuff in pots - I just find watering
by hand a pain in the arse (except my indoor plants of course !)

But good luck and keep us posted on the fruit production...so you're near Orlando?

Yep! near Orlando!

Thanks for giving me hope to carry on!

It feels like I'm in South America here in Central FL...Good thing, because I can't afford to travel there...I can just grow a slice of South Am. right here! ;)

Not too many fruits, especially interesting fruits, native to USA. So either you grown the South American, Central American, or Mexican goodies or the Asian goodies.  ;) One very interesting and tasty exception is the Paw paw.
