Lemon Zest Flowers!
« on: January 24, 2012, 06:13:46 PM »
The Lemon Zest I planted at my mom's house has begun to push new growth. There appears to be some flowers. How is everyone else's doing?

I don't have lz, but ALL my mango trees are blooming... Including the late season varieties like Valencia pride.  Guess the weird weather...?

I have a few flowers on mine now too. It's way too small to fruit though.

Awesome! It looks like my young grafted carrie might be beginning to push out flowers. Not sure yet. Hopefully my LZ blooms. Even though it's still young, I would be very grateful just to have one mango from it.  :)

I do not have an updated pic of the entire tree but I do have a pic of the day I planted it. It was over 6ft tall when I planted it and has pushed 1 or maybe 2 flushes since then.

Here it is on August 27th, 2011:

I will have to take a look at mine but the look at those leaves looks totally different than mine.  Mine seem wider, smoother/flat (no rippling, and seem to drape down as opposed to being held more horizontal.

If I remember correctly, the newer growth is wider and does not have as many ripples on the leaves. I think the growing conditions in the container may cause been the cause of the leaf differences. I guess I will see if it is a Lemon Zest soon enough. I got it from a row of 15g LZ's at Excalibur.

How large do Lemon Zest trees grow?
Has anyone seen the original tree at Zill's?

Hey Sheehan,

Thanks for sharing the Pictures. Congrats on the new Growth. My Lemon Zest pushed new Leaf growth and flowers at the same Time.  The tree currently has 1 small Mango that it is holding.  It still has a bunch of viable flowers that appear to be forming Mangos.  Hopefully, I will have more than just 1 Mango on the tree at the end of the day.  Good luck with yours.
