Halley’s Comet At Home Depot $6.95
« on: January 05, 2017, 08:41:15 AM »
Bought this at the Home Depot on SW 40 St in Miami. Nice size, clean plant for the price. Has anyone seen other cultivars, this Home Depot only had one.

I cant recall ever seeing a actual named DF at HD (or Lowes), usually just listed as red, white or purple.

I bought one lyears ago at lowes. Mine came with a different tag but from the same nuesery? You need to hand pollinate it. Goose size pinkish fruit for me.

La Verne Nursery supplies Dragon Fruit to Southern California Lowe's and Home Depot.

I have not seen any "named" Dragon Fruit varieties sold at Southern California Lowe's and Home Depot.

Look again at pot and tag.
Check out this lowes in Torrance/sky park when you're in the area. Ask for DH lady in garden. I used to work for HD. Very familiar with their garden department and vendors.

Are you saying Lowe's in Torrance carries Smart Planet Dragon Fruit plants?

Yes. That is what I'm saying. They don't have it year round like df from la Verne and only displayed it by the small cacti/succulent area. That is why you need to talk to the Department Head (DH) of garden if you really want it. She can provide you a list of vendors and their availability/take your name/number and call you when in store.

Frank,
I don't know Rick or Tim but I do know my Halley's Comet came from that store and it is not from Laverne.

Why the "flame" JF?

All I said was; I have not seen any "named" Dragon Fruit varieties sold at Southern California Lowe's and Home Depot.

I am not an expert, and never claimed to be a spokesperson for Laverne Nursery and Tim Thompson.

Thanks, I did not know that.

I have heard that the department heads at big box stores have an influence on which varieties are carried at their stores.

That is one of the reasons I like to check out different big box store's nursery stock.

The home Depot in Lake forest have been carrying this brand's Hailey comet for a couple months. Was pleased to see they finally had a named variety.

Are you doubting me? Do you want me to post all of your post defending and praising these entities?

I thought that I had posted both defense and support for criticism.

I still think I did not deserve the public flame.
