Title: what on earth could have done that!?

Yesterday this dwarf orinoco was 100% fine growing fast and today i saw this....

Something unraveled it and just broke it in half!!!. It is the second banana plant that received this treatment... The first was only 1ft tall and i placed chicken wire around it (it recovered fine). But this one was quite big...

Does anyone know what kind of animal would do this?!
The ground around it was fine (untouched)

Probably a dog.
My dog digged out all the mimosa trees ive planted ,until i made a radical cage for the tree.

we have many wild dogs here so probably you are right.
I did this

Is it enough? or should i cut a taller piece?
Also will it continue to grow or should i cut it where it was broken?

Hope it heals itself or if not, then you can cut it so it starts new growth from where it was broken.
I dont know much about bananas as i dont grow any at the moment thogh.

Unfortunately you might need to cut, and also I give 50% the fruit stalk is dead, but who knows maybe it can recover. Cut bananas when they are tall and they don't produce flower anymore.
Off topic, your land is very rocky, how do they grow?

Thanks for the advice, i hope i wont need to cut it off but we will see.
Yes it is very rocky, it is nearly impossible to dig manually more than 50cm deep. Most plants do just fine (they only need one year from planting to get going) The only thing i cant grow for some reason is climbing vines (appart from passionfruit and grape vines) all others just dont grow and die any location i have tried. As for the subtropical plants i have been planting since last year i have placed them in locations that previously were other trees and an area around 1m deep was dug in the prosses so plently of loose soil.

The big advantage i have is the location and microclimates of my farm as i have a dry creek that is 30-40 m deep on both sides so it is protected from wind, snow and from the layers of pine needles the soil has become fertile and acidic. I can have 30cm snow in the open land where my vineyards are and in the creek not even one cm snow.

The animals that i have spoted in my farm are:
dogs, foxes, badger, boar

Thankfully it recovered pretty well and now it is pushing new growth from the top.
