Hi all,
Anyone interested in Duguetia odorata, please send me a PM. I first Ided it as quitarensis but after checking with one expert he confirmed that it is D. odorata

Thanks,
Dada

PM sent.
The hardest plants to grow are often those most worth growing.

Hi Dada,

sorry but I need to understand: your D.quitarensis seems quite different from the one attached found on internet. Are you sure it is the right ID? Is your fruit ready to be eaten?

Many thanks,

Giampaolo

Hi,
Indeed mine is unripe and the one on the Internet is ripe. I found some variation in this species from one tree to another. The carpels are more drawn out or are even like the one u can see on the foto

Thanks, what's the flavour? Is that exciting or not? Did you have the chance to try?

All the best,

Hi Dada, as per national herbarium, seems not to be also D.odorata. Take a look: http://fm2.fieldmuseum.org/vrrc/max/ANNO-dugu-odor-2056776.jpg

cheers,

What region and ecosystem is it found in naturally? That might help narrow it down a bit.

In this link, you can find some pics both of D. odorata and D. quitarensis.
However some appears to be very similar to other Duguetia fruit pictures Dada had uploaded and tagged as D. lepidota or D. quitarensis.

Well it is a Duguetia that is for sure. D.lepidota is not found in Ecuador. So it is likeli to be D.  odorata.

Hi SH,

this is true. But Prof. Paoletti (Padova university) clarified with this photo I think. It is definitely D.lepidota.
