Where do you usually get parafilm tape in America? I Mean supermarket? Drugstore? I haven't seen it here in Mexico, maybe I haven't look in the right place, what is the most common use for it, is designed specially for grafted? I Thought it was similar to the one is use here to wrapped the meat of the fruits in the supermarkets, I bought it and use it,  but it comes very wide so I cut it in long strips,  it worked at some point but it doesn't have the elasticity that I noticed in parafilm while unwrapping some mango scions I received from Florida, so any lead for the kind of stablishment I should look for to get them, thanks!

I purchase my parafilm from eBay. True parafilm is different than food plastic wrap.

Pure sulfur will work. As Brian said, use 1/3 of the amount.  Don't expect the pH to drop immediately. I also try to use rainwater to water my plants. The water that comes from the water utility is alkaline.

I  use Espoma soil acidfier and a water soluble  fertilizer called Miracid. You can also use a fertilizer with a high percentage of urea. You want your soil pH to be between 4 -5

Im pretty excited for these 2 new types

This one is a cheesepine from Simon and Jim.  I have no idea why its called cheese pine.

This one I got from a guy in Malaysia, its called nanas paun.  Its supposed to get really large.

Is the cheesepine a white pineapple like the white sugarloaf?

Nice! Homegrown pineapples taste so good. I let my pineapples get completely golden yellow before I harvest.

I just harvested a homegrown pineapple. I have several offsets, crown, slips, ratoon and suckers. Which offset will produce a pineapple the fastest? I only have space in my green house to grow one of the offset.

Hey Brad, thanks for sharing your tutorial and the boat load of info on growing pineapples. I'm happy to report that all the slips and pups that I received from you back in May and July are thriving and doing great.  For me, the big advantage to growing your own, allows one to have pineapples that are not obtainable at your local stores, like the White Jades and Victoria that I received from you. Additionally, you can harvest your pineapples at the optimal time.

I'm new to growing dragon fruit, but my understanding is that American Beauty and Condor are self pollinating.

I buy from a local nursery supply called DS Urban Farm, located in San Francisco Bay Area. Local pick up only.
For reference, a 1.5 cuft bag cost $16.93 but they are currently having a 35% off sale which brings the price down to $11 a bag. A lot of cannabis growers use this potting soil.

Hello, my name is Darryl.  I live in the San Francisco Bay Area, California, USDA Zone 10A.  The temperature rarely drops below freezing.  I live within 50 feet of the bay waters, so the temperature does not fluctuate as much as other parts of California and it is definitely not the tropics or sub-tropics. Back in 2017, I started growing pineapple plants from store bought pineapples in a small backyard greenhouse.  I was amazed at the flavor and sweetness of the pineapples I was able to grow. I recently became knowledgeable of the white pineapples varieties and have purchased White Jade and Sugarloaf slips from members of this forum.  If you live in the SF Bay Area and have similar interest in growing pineapples, feel free to drop me a message.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Ants disrupting pineapple roots
« on: May 20, 2020, 08:04:39 AM »
I had a similar problem. I eliminated the ants by flooding my pots with water. When the ants came out of the soil with their eggs, I sprayed them with a pyrithian based insecticide.

I have three pineapple plants that are flowering. So for those plants should I switch over to Southern Ag 5-11-26? I have 30# available, as this is the fertilizer I use in my vegistable hydroponic mix.

20
I'm relatively new to growing pineapples. I saw an article on the Internet from a guy growing pineapples in the Bahamas. He was suggesting to fertilize pineapple plants by foliar applying  Miracle Gro Miracid fertilizer.  Anyone have any experience fertilizing their plants using this method.  If so, did this work out for you?

Darryl
