Grafted cherimoya trees
« on: April 26, 2019, 02:40:21 PM »
I have a few 1 gallon cherimoya knight grafted on cherimoya rootstock for sale.  20$ plus shipping.  They are very small trees so I can ship them.  Knight is a top quality fruit, possibly the same as pierce.  Its from the same original ranch for sure.  The bud wood came off my knight tree that makes exceptional 30+ brix fruit. This is the best annona I have had easily.

Will post pics of the trees later but they are about 1ft or 18" tall and grafts are just starting to grow leaf sets.  I can hold them for a few weeks to let more leaves come in if you want.

The best time to plant a fruit tree was 20 years ago. The next best time to plant one is now.

I got about 10 people asking for trees but only have 3 trees.  I will graft some more trees today and will try and respond to everyone.

Same thing happened last year.  What I will do is sprout 20 trees and have more than enough this time next year.

Heres what they look like.  I should probably wait a week or 2 to send if people can't pickup local.

I have scons but the trees are already flushing so it is not a great time to take them.  There may be some good pieces left, I can check.  How many do you want?

if it's not ideal time to take scions I can always wait until fall, so you can use whatever scions you have for your seedlings this spring.

Best time to graft cherimoya is in march.  You dont get great results in fall.

Agree with Brad. I am a newbie. Learned it the hard way as more than 10 grafts of mine failed last fall. I thought I was very bad at grafting. I tried this Spring with 100% success rate. All cleft.

guess it's a risk lol, my whole tree is pushing new flushes so I think it's already too late to do some past minute grafts

Its ok if the tree getting grafted onto is flushing.  What you need is scions with buds that havent already sprung.

well if you have 3 or 4 scions you have that's still dormant I will buy them if you have only 1 or 2 that's fine also

I did graft up a few more knight and honeyhart trees and looked for more scions to sell but pretty much the entire trees are flushing now so scions will need to wait.  I only was able to find a few good pieces and used them to make more trees.

It's ok, I'll take my risks in fall. Thanks again.

Yes grafted 5 or 6 weeks ago.  I just did more, they will be ready in June.

I have another kight tree in a little larger pot available.  Would be best for local pickup or ship in CA as its fairly heavy.

Ive got a few honeyhart trees that are pushing which will be ready for sale in a month also.

Can you come over?  I really dont want to ship this one, its in a bigger pot and full of DG it weighs a lot.

I have some some Sugar Apple or Cherimoya coming up from seed.   i was told the seed husk could come off.

But it appears to have cotyledons?  the seed had pulp in it.  and i probably killed this.  Do these look alright to you?

also, how long do they take to bear from seed? and what the lowest temp they can handle?  Can they be grown in pots?

Do you still have any available? I am local-ish. I’ve heard the HoneyHart do better with heat than other varieties, do you know if that is true? I’m intrigued by Cherimoya, but know next to nothing. I would like to grow them out near Hemet area. We get very hot here and I have read they aren’t real enthusiastic about the heat usually.
It's always a good day when you get to plant a tree.
