I have Orange Essence topworked on to one of my trees (NDM #4). Got a fruit last year (delicious) and have about 15 on the tree this year. I have Taralay also grafted on the tree and that part of the tree produces a lot more than the OE. But taste wise, it doesn't even come close to the OE.

From what i have seen on my tree, it doesn't flower heavily but holds on to fruit. I have had it for about 4 years and this is the second year fruiting. I have a feeling it will become more productive with time.

Has been a medium producer for me (on a topworked glenn). But flavor is outstanding.

Excellent mango, and the trees are productive. In fact they’ve been so productive that the oldest Orange Essence trees at Gary Zill’s property have had limb breakage from the weight.

The big question is whether they’re resistant to mbbs. If they make it through this year clean, we might have our Kent replacement.

I've been wondering about the shelf life and shippability. O2 always got high praise for flavor, but was always noted for having a dismal shelf life. If I could ship a 40-33 fruit safely to relatives back East, I would love to grow something in the Citrus category with Gary-type citrus notes.

The Orange Essence fruits on my tree look really clean...spotless

Here’s  my Peach Cobbler, I put her in the ground Aug 2019, she was container grown for 5 years while we were renting . It’s her third year of flowering and first year holding fruit - not many only 2 - I’m sure next year will be better.

Holy moly I just realized I posted picture of my peach cobbler and not orange essence! And I don’t even own Orange essence either - I have an Orange Sherbet! This staying at home with 3 kids has got me going nuts! Well here’s a pic of the Orange Sherbet anyways! Sorry!!!

Can anyone describe the Orange Essence tree?  Is it generally a large tree, similar to its parent Kent?  (I read that somewhere.)  No chance it's a compact, slow-growing tree?  How does Peach Cobbler compare as far as growth characteristics?  More compact, slower-growing? ???

Orange Essence has an upright, vertical-oriented growth habit. Not slow growing from the trees we’ve observed. Moderately vigorous to vigorous in rate.

Peach Cobbler is hyper-vigorous though, and grows more aggressively than Orange Essence because it’s not as precocious or consistently productive. Been known to flush vegetative growth during the bloom season, which hasn’t been an issue with the Orange Essence trees.

Thanks, Alex.  With bsbullie (Rob) having retired from the forum, we depend on you for South Florida mango information, and you always come through!
