Title: WTB Bamboo cuttings.

I'm looking for either rootable, or pre-rooted cuttings for bamboo, specifically any variety that's fast growing, adaptable to a desert climate, and with edible shoots.

Also looking for BAMBUSA VULGARIS “WAMIN”, aka the Dwarf Buddah belly, or any other unique and fast growing ornamental.

I always thought bamboo liked a lot of water and heat, like sugarcane.

Depends on the variety, and I'll have irrigation/containment for it.

If anything, bamboo can be very desirable here as it will grow well, but smaller and run less due to our climate. There's a good number of folks here that have some in their yards, or indoors. Sugar cane is less prominent, but I know some folks here that are growing it with ease.

I have a very large bamboo
i dont know the name. the person i had gotten the corm from had no idea.
i know its a clumping variety. i have no problem with runners.
after the 2nd year i got 20ft tall shoots.

i didnt think they grow from cuttings, are you sure ?
i can dig up a corm/roots. it should grow well from that.

Yes, they do grow from sections. I don't know how long, but I'm thinking 3 nodes should be good? Probably better if the buds are already swelling, like if you cut the bamboo ahead of time and it's trying to grow again.

Yes,  most clumping bamboo can be grown from clum cuttings, cut right below node and just one section is needed then cut right below top node and kept water in upper node section plant bottom node in pot. All ways keep water node, new growth will come from buried node. ;)

Looks nice Greenman62! A type like that is right what I'm looking for. Let me know your price for a corm with roots (ideal) or culms with multiple nodes.

And correct, they do grow from nodes, not too dissimilar to sugar cane. I have some black bamboo I got some from a friend locally that's growing from some, albiet slowly since desert + winter = super slow bamboo growth.

If anyone has Buddah Belly, I'm still looking and eager to nab some.

Have you tried http://tropicalbamboo.com? (http://tropicalbamboo.com?) They have both wamin and striped wamin. They ship 3 gallon sizes. Note the minimum temp recommendation (Min. temp 27°F. MIn USDA zone: 9b).

I did, but the cost of the plant and shipping is prohibitively expensive for me at this time through them. Since these are supposedly really easy to propagate with cuttings, I figured I'd go the route of giving some money to a person willing to provide me with some instead. :)
