Wouldn't there be less bugs, since I would be growing indoors?

Just a side note...my greenhouse gets up to about a high of 100 degrees Fahrenheit and a low of maybe 78. Humidity varies at around 50-70 percent humidity. I'm sure you could grow it inside of a home/house, just don't expect it to do too much. Consider it a house plant.

Has anyone ever grown a mango tree 100% indoors with grow lights?

I grow them for about 2-3 months indoors in a greenhouse with lights. They grow like weeds. I got about 20 seeds from Florida growing nicely right now. Once I plant them outside they stop growing like weeds...but hey that’s California mango growing for you.

I just grafted some Pickering scions, and was wondering how long should they be shaded before being exposed to full sun?

I keep them shaded until I feel 100 percent it won’t die. How are you shading the grafts? Brown paper bag?

What other varieties are you growing hawkfish007? Are you growing Gary? I was trying to find someone frowing Gary in California to get some info on it. Apparently in Florida Gary doesn't produce too well, but maybe its a bit different in Cali.

I will doing the same to a couple of my trees. In order to have some good branches to graft on to...What month/time would be good to prune back heavily down to the stump?

I got 2 Kesar scions that I prepped up a couple of days ago. Send me a PM if interested.

Yes. The Ligularis are still alive and growing. I saw a flower in late February maybe? I did not take a picture of it because i figured it was finally going to continue to flower but that was the only one i saw, I haven't seen any other flowers since that one time . I recently just saw the first flowers on my Frederick a couple of days ago so I will check later today to see if I see any flowers at the top of my pergola for the Ligularis.

If I can get some budwood, looks iike I'll be the first to try it here in S. Calif.

Any updates jbclem?

Why is it not advisable? I have some Kauai Sugarloafs that I am getting ready to put into the ground in a week or so.

Aside from these trees being too young to hold fruit and the growth getting stunted...is there any other negatives? Can the tree possibly just die due to exhaustion or anything like that?

I had this scenario you are going thru RNGuyen. I was waiting for late July to remove all the fruit from my Manila seedling. I removed all the fruit (to get vegetative growth) and a grafting I did in April of PPK just came to life which I thought was dead. Pretty crazy how it lasted such a long time without any activity.

Yes, I prepped two Sweet Tart scions as I have that tree on turpentine. The buds were nicely swollen. Both scions are pushing now on a manila seedling.

The Lemon Zest was the only success out of 12 scions i ordered from Florida.

Yea Simon i have had to pinch back little buds constantly on the Sweet Tart grafts. I didn't know about that until i asked Behl about that in person as i was unsure how the effect would be. Wish i would have known that when I grafted the 12 scions from Florida, I probably would have had more than one success as some scions stayed green for more than a month.

I grafted Lemon Zest onto a Manila seedling back in late April....it just threw out its first flush of leaves maybe a month ago. So it was green without much action for 1.5 months. Also grafted 2 sweet tart scions in late May and the buds are just now pushing thru the buddy tape. I don’t put a brown paper bag/plastic bag or anything to protect the scions but I am thinking of changing that up to see if I get results faster than waiting 2 months.

Has anyone had any luck? My vines are still growing strong, still no flowers.

is there a bug spray for this or manually squash them?

I recommend you do some nighttime recon.

Looking good there. Hope those avos sprout up. I acquired a few new varieties from green scene recently. Hopefully they will grow well this year.

Mark, yes you can hand pollinate. You can use a q tip or or something soft or a dead bug trapped in a spider web. You can then light brush against s male flower then come back to pollinate female flowers

You can also just pull off a Male flower and walk around and pollinate female ones later on

Out of curiosity...Which varieties did you get from green scene? I missed it this year...I have attended the two previous years before.

Put me down for 4 bags. I am really hoping the pick up will be in Buena Park.
