Luisport: I already planned that  8) And of course, whenever you are in algarve.....

I will se when only, i have no car and planning is to hard sometimes but in a near future i should go and do something. I heard of a great place in portugal; a place where they planted trees from the new world and thet should have 500 year old redwood growing there. Would be nice to combine.

So: Greatness can be seen for a long time, keep collecting!
Well ok i will wait... to Algarve with this austherity its not easy...  ;)

Most of the Elaeagnus fruits i think are not very good quality. Latifolia is one of the better ones. To me it tastes like a tarty plum. It's the kind of fruit that grows on you. After eating it several times i'm really fond of it and look forward to it fruiting again. It needs to be picked totally ripe otherwise it has some astringency.
The cuts you send me don't sprout yet, but are not dry... it's normal? Thank's!

Keep them tented with plastic bag so they don't dry out. Did you use rooting hormone?
I plant them in a pot... yes i use rooting hormone. They looking good, so i'm waiting!  ::)

Hi Keith,

E. klotzschiana is very hard to grow - at least for me. I only have a small plant. It's more a curiosity for me. The fruit is supposed to be very sour.

Saw your posting for Cupuassu. There is a quite usefull booklet on this fruit put out by EMBRAPA. Brazil. It is in Portuguese. Have you facility/or someone in your area who can translate it for you? I can send you a pdf version in portuguese of same.
Cupuassu is planted in an industrial scale  mostly in the State of Pará in the Amazon. Big enterprizes run by japanese  settlers.
I have some cupuassu trees which fruit in the month of april-june. They like shade
                                      Best regards

Many boring fruit-ideas in portugal :( almond, lemon and fig. Or even better; only potatoes ;) Our place had some fruittrees already, mostly lemons so now im looking for that miracale plant to be able to eat them. hehe

Good to know some fruit-friends in the country. Together we are gonna plant some trees.... :)

I will keep posting my experiments!
Hi! Me, Miguel and Sergio we have posts of our trees with photos...

Hola amigo :) That was interesting to hear and im very thankful for that info. Then it seems like i should experiment a lot more. But to many seeds in one time and i get confused :)

I havent been hanging here for to long but it seems to be few growers from south of europe. Is it because of the language?
Hi! In the fórum we are 4 with you from Portugal mainland and two from Madeira Island. I think people here don't see tropicals as a chance due weather...  ;)
