Quite the achievement you've pulled off, amazing

52
I think it is the same variety I got from Exotica 15 years ago. The fruit should be yellow. Once it's in the ground it takes off.

That's where I acquired it, yes. Hope you're well mark!

53
It's already overpriced. Any cutting over $10 is a ripoff. Rare or not, it's a frenzy, created by internet heros.

Can I buy some rare dragonfruit varieties from you for $10 each?

54
And yes I do ship in the usa

Newb at DF, I have purple haze, dark star, and American beauty.  Should I get a variety that is a prolific pollinator to help pollinate the others? Or not necessary

Get sugar dragon

Can we ban bsbullie?

Can we ban you?

Have you ever grown pitangatuba?  Seen ripe fruit?  Know its texture and fragility of it when ripe?  Jyst how would it lend itself to a commercial market (I am not even going to discuss the masses do not support fruit if this tartness)?  Do you even know what you are talking about or just spewing garbage?

Comparing it mango is ludicrous.

If you want to go at it, just be prepared. .

I just dont get why you can't make a point without insulting people. You realize this is a hobby for most people?

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Pinkglow pinapple

Has anyone tasted the pinkglow pinapple ?

Just wondering if its worth buying one at the local market.

The ones I had were decent but not outstanding. They didnt taste super fresh, standard grocery store pineapple type thing. But I did detect less acidity and a more syrupy sweet taste.

I personally came away thinking the reason for this fruit is mostly its color.

Check on BonsaiBeast, loves dragonfruit.

Thanks for the shoutout, although I dont have the ones he's looking for. At least, they're not large enough to take cuttings from yet.

What’s up BB! Great meeting you at the yangmei exchange, wish I woulda had more time to rap, damn kids...Are you growing S8 too? If so, does the fruit production, pollen, taste, fertility, etc. all match up with Voodoo? I’ve heard they are the same as well.

Yo man! It was cool meeting you some weeks back!

As for voodoo vs s8, I just acquired the voodoo child so I have not tried the fruit. Visually it looks really similar to s8. Perhaps the flower is slightly different in color among other things.

I read somewhere that an official DNA test was done that confirmed they were in fact different but highly related

68
Very mature cuttings of Voodoo Child dragonfruit from a 10+ year old plant.

Voodoo child is very similar to Sugar Dragon (S8), some argue they are the same.

Either way, voodoo child is one of the most productive, fertile varieties making very sweet rose-flavored fruits. It has one of the longest bloom seasons and is arguably the best supplier of pollen among any variety.

$10 for a nice standard cutting of about 16"  Some of these cuttings are extremely long and are priced accordingly.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: New dwarfing white sapote variety?
« on: May 20, 2021, 03:19:58 PM »

Not trying to cause any grief but looking at the branch angles of the tree I have a hard time believing that the tree has never had some form of pruning done 🤔. Regardless if the tree is in fact 50 yrs old it is incredibly small for white sapote.

-joe

Definitely!

And as the owner says, the tree was there before he moved in. Maybe the previous owner did some pruning, that seems probable.

Here are some photos taken last week of the tree. It looks a lot better than in winter, but still, growth flushes seem to be quite small.

The leaves are very fuzzy.'

I've taken some scions to graft and I await to see how it grows on fresh rootstocks.

71
I finally have roots popping out the bottom but only for An Hai. There is perlite in my mix, the roots are the longer thin growths coming out of the drainage holes.

Simon

Have you watered yet? Impressed the roots have already made it down there

I have small trees and I'd be interested in a larger one

73
Wow amazing growth! I'm wondering if your extra light Is getting yours pushing faster..

74
While trimming back dead branches I accidentally caught the trunk and was amazed to see green!

This was on my black peak

The earlier pictures I showed of buds were on my biqi and anhai

75
Honestly I think its the quality of the trees more than what in doing. I had them in too much humidity and they were developing that white fluffy mold on the dead tips. So this is my new setup for now.
