I just got the nicely waxed budwoods also. Found homes for all of them and kept a couple for myself on top of what I already got from you with JF's AP and Cangrejo's sugar apple. Thanks again, Behl!

Behl - What is the timeline on having your tree accepted as a named cultivar?  What are you calling it (so I know what to label my branches)?

Everyone's requests are going out by mail tomorrow. Should get to you anywhere between 1 to 3 days depending on your location.

I am out of wood for now as I pruned heavily last month and now tree has pushed hard.

I grafted 3 of the pieces and stuck 4 in the ground as cuttings. The 4 cuttings are already pushing new growth.

Thanks again Behlgarden.

On naming the cultivar, I named it "Behl", I have not registered it yet, I will be contacting the appropriate person later this week or next. I heard it it may cost $2000 to register, if that is so, then I will not register, enjoy fruits as I dont want to get into commercialization or anything, just share with others. Will let you know what CRFG says

I thought traditionally CRFG will register varieties for free. I'm not sure if they cover some fees. There's not been many new varieties registered under CRFG for some time and I'm not sure of anyone alive there still knows how to do it.

I think your figure is for patenting?

Sounds like a crowdfunding venture to me!  From all the activity on your tree-trimming party, I figure you must have sent out close to 2k scions - just ask everyone who received one to send $1 ea via paypal and cover the cost for you!  Or better yet, indiegogo.com - either way, I've got $5 for the sticks I got by way of SimonGrow.  In the meantime, I've got a healthy branch tagged as Behl* now.

*patent pre-pending.

By now whoever requested probably got their budwood delivered to them. Hope you get good takes. enjoy! My tree is putting tonnes of flowers, as many as 6 to 10 flowers per branch on an average. will post pics.

Hi Behl,

I can see the cherimoya grafts are pushing out which I grafted on April 9th.  The phillipine purple guava and also another unidentified guava budwood you gave me seems to be pushing out also.
You are right, grafting is addictive, now I want to graft my apple and nectarine trees.
Again, thanks for your grafting lesson, scions and budding tape.

Yes, purple guava.  Behl can confirm.
Behl said it is very good, I haven't tried it and have no idea how it looks like.
I just got some clippings and grafted them.

FYI - most of your wood should have pushed out by now. for some reason this year I am seeing very unusual pushing of the tree, with each small pencil size branch holding 10-15 flowers, it means that I could easily get well over 500 plus fruits if all hold.

Another thing I notice is that I didnt had to pollinate this year, my tree is self pollinating plus santa ana winds help in pollination as well, I am getting 100% flowers turn into fruits already.

How is everyone doing?
