In Amazon the season is December-February. It is a difficult one to get because the seeds are fairly large and short lived.

I will have seeds for trade next year.
In French Guiana, season start in april and end in july. Trees produces every two years and are not common.

I think the season varies between the hemispheres and according to distance from the equator.

You know of a place outside of S. America producing Platonia insignis? What hemisphere is that?

All in the western hemisphere.

The equator traverses south America and they are found on both sides from Colombia to central Brazil and I understand some Brazilians grow them even further south than their natural distribution.

According to link you gave it's distrubed wider than you say, but is rare outside of Brasil:
"Breaking the borders of Brazil, the platonia is found, albeit rare, in the Peruvian Amazon, Venezuelan, Colombian and French Guiana. With respect to the occurrence in Paraguay, there are no records to prove the presence of the species, both in native state as cultivated"

Seems like they are quite widespread so should be pretty easy to get.

Unfortunately not at all easy to get in reality. Even harder to receive viable seeds and then for them to thrive outside their native area. It's a challenging one even though in their native area they are a horrible weed tree.

Oscar that was not really a serious comment as I have found them hard to get. Weeds usually have masses of small seeds but it appears they can be dominant in secondary regrowth forest, especially near ecotones.

These plants are weedy not due to masses of seeds, but due to fact that they spread from root runners. If you cut a tree down you will have hundreds of trees coming up from all the roots.
