Kinzu Kumquat/Orange?

I was wondering if anyone knows/has any of this variety? My basic google search didn't give many results.

Edit: I found out that they're other name is the Hong Kong Kumquat.

Does anyone know where I could obtain a seed or two?

This is the smallest of kumquats. Round and most of the time the size of a marble. It is mostly a novelty and/or used for bonsai. Not commercially produced. Come to think of it....I know of none in the home cultivated areas. Try ccpp.

Thanks everyone. I managed to find one on ebay for a nice price, as I am mostly limited to containers and bonsai is something I'd like to get into, I purchased a year old seedling. I'll try googling under that name to see if I can find some general care! Thank you!

I had two but they died.  The fruit has no juice and is really only skin and seeds, however the skin is sweet and edible if you make the effort.  It might make a good bonsai.

Supposedly there is cultivar named Golden Bean that has slightly larger fruit

I did come across that as well, but couldn't find any for sale. I am happy with my little hong kong kumquat that I get to train and see what happens! Brian, how long did you have them before they died? Did you grow them yourself from seed or purchase like me? I'm trying to see how long till they fruit? Also every site seems to have the same info spit up, which is not much on them.

I bought mine from a local exotic plants seller that has other citrus.  I assume they were seedlings, 12-18" tall and scraggly, they didn't look grafted.  I'm not sure why they died, they simply never thrived and slow-declined into death over six months or so.  They were fruiting at such a small size so its possible they were cuttings, or they may be very precocious.  I never knew much about them to be honest.

If you find a good source of seeds let me know, I might try growing them again.

I have grown them in the past.  The tree can bloom in one year from seed.  I know of no use for the fruit, however, it can be an ornamental specimen.   Its been a while since I dealt with that variety, but I seem to recall that people dry the fruit and use them in making the beads for a rosary.

Well up in Wisconsin here I am mostly about the ordimental value of citrus. Being so far north, most things wont produce a crop with growing. I am getting the tree monday. If it blooms in spring, I will share seeds eventually!

franklazar, you can most certainly grow container citrus in Wisconsin  and obtain fruit.  Mandarins, satsumas would do well and if a grafted tree, would produce fruit.

I meant worth, not with growing haha. But yeah, I am sure that I could make it happen, as you are in the rockies and make it work better than many in the south haha. I don't really grow for consumption, I do want fruit, but more just for the success of getting fruit.
