Found new guabijus at Salta, Argentina
« on: January 25, 2013, 11:47:32 AM »
A man called Vicente Leo found them, look:

http://www.huertasurbanas.com/2013/01/25/guaviyusmatos-en-plaza-9-de-julio-salta-argentina/

http://www.huertasurbanas.com/2013/01/25/guaviyusmatos-en-salta/

Also, he said that there are complete woodlands/forest of guabijus near the city, so maybe he will take more photos of them :-D

My goal is to find a guaviyú that brings big fruits, how about that!

Cheers!

Wow! I didn't realize the guabijus grow that far north. Also Salta is high elevation. I think it gets really cold there in winter, right? I have some relatives in Salta and will try to get them to send me seeds.  ;D

Wow Huertasurbanas a whole forest, that would be amazing during bloom and fruiting.  I hope you find some incredible variation.

Also of interest for seed searches in Salta province, presumably in the northeastern parts, is Annona nutans (yagua-nambi) and Rollinia rugulosa (arachichu).  Both are edible.

In the provincial capital, temperatures as low as  -9.4C have been recorded.

I am glad you liked them, please report in the future if you can get some interesting seeds and so interesting trees and fruits. (we will have to wait so many years for this! :( )

It's a pleasure to me to free this useful information on the net.

Thanks Ethan, I would like. But Salta is too far from here (this is a big country, Salta is about 1400km from Junin), so some friend will have to do the hard work for me.  Anyway, I really would like to visit these forest some day! it's one of my dreams, for sure!
