And you wonder why greening is spreading to CA & TX?
« on: September 25, 2020, 08:08:22 PM »
I was looking through Etsy today found a listing for red fingerlime tree's. Looked through the sellers feedback and... This FL seller is shipping citrus to CA & TX. It is insane that the USDA is not monitoring these sites...

I’m sure there’s some people who don’t know any better.

If the US warned of it as Bio terrorism that would scare some people away from doing it.

I do no know what the consequence is , but if people are losing their lively hoods maybe they should serve jail time.
I mean I go to a guys house, with a chain saw and chop his whole fruit  trees down in his state millions acres  of them I am sure I would serve jail time.

I wonder if the USDA does stings like that posting fake listings.
Unfortunate most people have no idea about greening disease media doesn't cover it.

When in FL, I see hundreds of dead or dying abandoned citrus groves and it is very depressing expecially for the farmers who lost their livelihood. the USDA is definetely trying to stop it as they have imposed quarantines. Even though there are quarantines anyone can bring trees through the borders since no one checks, but as a good citizen, you should abide by the laws.

Well I did not think So,
I am just saying If the common folk does not even see it is out there
what stops them from traveling between boarders with plants

Why isn't this played on dateline 2020 etc TV Commercials to educate people

Of coarse some evil people may want to destroy the trees by purpose to be jerks

I am not a person of  malice , even been robbed , and didn't file police reports to get stuff back,
but I rest by my statement this needs to be brought to the publics attention more ,
and If I brought  tree's next to my Neighbors Orchard ,
and he loses his live time saving , and his orchard I should go to jail.
So what is so bad about stings, and playing that crap in the media Scare people straight.

I have liked reading some of your articles you posted
and I hope the one where they can Heat a Plant to kill the disease you posted a while back Could solve the transportaion issue .

If used to be certified , and quick testing , or have the Gov cheaply kill the disease themselves for transport .

Sounds far fetched , but Really know  little maybe with new technologies being developed.

Could they heat the scion wood ?
I wonder or was it whole trees I wonder scion wood is so much smaller.

I did search "heat treatment" and found it, but not sure if It will work for scions ,
or haven't looked into it (I am not growing citrus (in area of it)
so why should I at this moment, but still find the topic interesting so look into it time to time)

I did see the Nanotechnology uses 200 times less insecticide article .

I would hope this never gets into our Northern Hop tree, in the rutaceae family or tooth ache tree (syn) prickly ash.
