Abiu Action Today
« on: January 01, 2016, 09:00:18 PM »
My Z4 tree got plucked pretty hard by visitors in the last week and I have only picked about 10 including a few today. I have probably overdone the abius in the past but here we go again.

Thankfully the next crop is happening and more flowers are on.

My young Z4 is also getting it's act together after 2.5 years in the ground.

My E4 is getting on the action as well with small fruit.

Mike, the fruit looks beautiful. I've never had abiu before, how would you describe the flavor of the Z4 fruit?

Joshua I won't repeat what has been discussed in past threads many times.Simon the Z4 is sweet with the desirable caramel taste and vanilla hints. It is vry pleasant.

In spite of getting some dings from being picked there is almost no bruising (and very little latex) in these as I eat them right now.

Another fruit i just came to know recently. It was introduce by the nursery man saying the fruit really taste great. The problem with the fruit is it is easily bruised, the reason its not available in the market. I planted a single seedling bcoz i have not done my research at the time but maybe i should add atleast 6 more based on what i learned about it through this forum and google.

Some of the poorer types are prone to bruising more easily and brown stains in the flesh. Z4 is a commercial one with firmer flesh much less prone to bruising. The best types have little bruising after bangs, little latex and don't brown as much when cut. There is a great deal of variation in this species.

Nice pics Mike, I really like the deep yellow/orange color  of the  Z4 , did you tip prune the trunk of your young Z4? The little tree seems small but compact with a nice wide trunc, my Z4 & E4 are growing very nice I will put them in ground soon.....
