Cherimoya Masterpiece
« on: April 18, 2019, 12:47:05 PM »
After letting a grafted seedling grow for 3 yrs, I went hack job to create a cocktail masterpiece. Don't be afraid to cut your tree hard. This tree was nearly 8 feet tall with single trunk. Look at it now, 40 inches tall and has nice spread and has been turned into a cocktail paradise

It's got:

Pierce
Sabor
Orton
Santa Rosa
Helmut
Fino
Selma
Ena
Honey Hart
Campas

Great job buddy!  I bet your yard looks awesome.
It looked awesome 2yrs ago when I first visited you.  I can only imagine what it looks like now with all your new growth.

What you did with your tree is exactly what I want to do in my yard. I bought a few seedlings from Atkins nursery for this purpose. I was thinking about planting 2 in my back yard and cutting them way back to encourage branching for further adding of choice scions. Your idea is a inspiration , thanks for sharing.

I love doing this as well. My tree is African Pride on Cherimoya with about 10 or so varieties grafted onto it.

Beautiful tree Behl! I use to like multigrafted trees that was until a few years growing then 2-3 cultivars will take over the tree. Behl, it looks like you selected yr var. well....

Im not sure of the trees age William. I put it in the ground and subsequently dug it up a year or two later and put it in the box seen in the photo. I have had it about 6 years or so I believe. Wow. I had to think way back on that one. Time really flies. Enjoy it while you can everyone.

But will each variety really give you fruit?

Wow !  Thats a very nice tree. I was thinking about doing something just like you showed except using a larger box maybe 36" or even a 48 " box eventually. My problem is that I am running out of room in my back yard so container growing is becoming more appealing. Anyway you are right about life going so fast, I have lived more than half of my life already so I understand what you mean about enjoying and living life to its fullest.

Would be interesting to see which outgrows which.

These are all similar growth varieties. Still pruning maintenance is needed to keep all in check
