Oh, sorry.  That gif image is not mine.  I found it on imgur.com and thought it was clever enough to share.

That is absolutely futuristic/amazing.

Well dash my wig.

who'd of thought? '

I'll definitely be trying this, but I suspect there might be a bit more slight of hand involved than the gif might lead one to believe.

By the way, same can be done by taking the mango cheek, using the edge of a large sppon (spoon size would vary depending on size of cheek) as scooping out the flesh.

Peeling takes too long and gets mango stuff all over your hands
I usually fillet a mango as close to the seed as possible. Like filleting a fish close to bone as possible.

Then eat flesh around the seed
Then scoop out the two halves with a large spoon. I like round soup spoons the best
Then scrape the skin of each half clean to get the flesh remaining on it...which sometimes tastes different than the flesh

After eating wash hands and face clean of the inevitable mango juice

ZANDS:  This "glass" method is very similar to your spoon method.  You cut the mango in fillets, close to the seed.  Then you use the glass to scoop out the pulp.  The glass catches the juices.  I tried it on a very ripe Glenn and Edwards mango today and it worked great.  The glass method yields larges pieces of mango, but probably only works on very ripe (soft) and fiberless mangos.

Do "we" (TFF members) need to know how to eat a mango?  Probably not.

Do most people in California need to know how to eat a mango?  Yes.  Most people new to Mango fruit...  have no clue.

The spoon method works very good on avocados.

I did come across a similar video, I also thought the same thing, has to be a fiberless mango for sure.  ok method for making "peach halves" style mango slices, maybe for serving in decorative fruit salads?
