Wanted: feijoa - pineapple gauva seedlings
« on: February 07, 2014, 08:16:49 PM »
I was wondering if anyone had some feijoa seedlings to sell or trade? I'm looking for some about 10 to 12 inches tall to use for rootstock.

Thanks,

Ed

edself65, feijoas are too easy to sprout and grow, if I were you, I just would start a lot of feijoas from seed

Thanks I have but I'm trying to get a few big enough to graft now since I have located some desirable budwood that I would like to graft.

Thanks,
Ed

Ed, did you ever get enough scions? If you did let me know. I have a source for about 4 varieties here.

Mark, what do you think of those varieties? I'be eaten those from Quail but that unnamed variety seemed better than all the named ones there.

I'm also trying to get a few that I got recently to grow. They're from New Zealand.
They'really hard to graft mainly because my rootstock has less bark moisture than the scions. I don't know why that is. Hopefully they'll take this time.

fyliu, what varieties from N.Z. are you trying to propagate? The tree's that I have grafted were in march I believe but any way did you wrap scion in para-film?
Has any one tasted 'Robert' var. from New Zealand? I'm looking for that one!

I'm also looking for some scion. I planted 24 that were supposed to be nazemetz and mammoth but they were very small. I would like some better varieties to top work them
