I understand but this El Monte Ca variety is in FL maybe DG can inform us of the growing habits down there?

He is legit but not necessarily obsessed. He sells a lot of budwood from a number of trees which would cause them to not necessarily show it actual growth habit. Dont know specifically about this variety.

He is legit but not necessarily obsessed. He sells a lot of budwood from a number of trees which would cause them to not necessarily show it actual growth habit. Dont know specifically about this variety.
I hope he let's this one sit and fruit before distributing

My Fairchild produce very good sweet fruits but small. Angie is dwarf and produce good sweet fruits. Glenn is kind of small tree and produce O.K fruits. None of my dwarf Mango trees beat regular sized tree in terms of taste at my house. Only for the taste, Top 5:Dot, Lemon Zest, Sweet Tart, Coco Cream, Carrie.

Glenn is nowhere near a dwarf or even semi-dwarf (whatever that means). I do agree that it is just an average mango in terms of taste.

I gave up on "dwarf" or "condo" mangoes. I go by prune more or prune less lol as I have learned

Dwarf Hawaiian, Julie, Ice Cream. All are good mangoes, not necessarily top tier though. They also require a bit of disease control. Julie might require more in the way of fertilizer (ie, minor elements).
Remember -- when selecting for a particular trait (in this case dwarf growth habit), we need to budge a little on some of the others (flavor, disease resistance, fruit size, productivity).
Dwarf Hawaiian is ridiculously precocious. My tree literally set (and retained) a fruit when a merge 6 inches tall and just a couple of months post graft. I've received fruit on the D.H. every single year since -- and in a pot no less. I'm finally enamored enough by the little guy that I'm topworking one of my trees to it.

Now he tells me lol may have to use that for the front yard spot we have been chatting about if it is later mid season. Have a few I got from Cookie that I will be trying this week. Hopefully not too washed out. But if still decent with this years water down may consider.

For what it's worth, my PC have been hit and miss this year. Some were excellent. Some were washed out with some jelly seed. They are indeed reasonably compact.

Amrapali is an excellent tasting mango. It is so dwarf I have heard of people having trouble getting it to grow.

Hard to beat Pickering. Recently got a custom select box from Alex (Tropical Acres) and his Pickering confirmed how much I like this small, productive tree and its great fruit.

I totally agree. The tree itself is a winner. I have one located on the north side of the house where it gets flooded with torrential summer rains and very shady in the winter time and where hurricane Irma did more damage to my property last year by knocking down a full ficus hedge, part of a clusia hedge, a guava tree and a Fruit Punch mango tree —the Pickering was still standing up with a few broken branches. This year it set 18 delicious mangos (not washed out at all) with practically no new growth. For me, it's the most wet feet and shade resistant mango tree I have seen. Mine is still 4' x 4' after 3 years in the ground –I'm hoping it will flush some new growth soon, so it'll get more light this winter.

Pickering is more productive than a Dwarf Hawaiian and Honey Kiss, but in my opinion, these varieties beat it when it comes to flavor. Honey Kiss is the most productive of the three. Taste-wise, I like DH the most.

Pickering is a good tree. Would not classify it is a true dwarf like dwarf hawaiian, julie, etc. But it is small. Flavor to me is "good" with occasional fruits ranging into the border of good / excellent on a good year. Production and disease resistance are consistently good.

It's tough, disease resistant and very productive. I would think with your humid Florida weather it would be a great fit....as you've confirmed. I just planted one that I top worked to Peach Cobbler so I can have both fruit.
